Jule Amps Monique part 5

I was temped from time to time to jump on the Minnie, but patiently waited for the M700 to come to light. I knew from dealing with Jule, it's all about the love. 3 days into my M700 and it's a cool cat and doesn't even break a sweat.

I pondered for a while, briefly discussed with Jule the possibility of a 2-amp unit. But in some further thought and discussion with a few other people, I'm not sure that my current amp solution is any lesser since it doesn't bottleneck or have any headroom restraints at any reasonable or unreasonable playing volume.

Ah, very interesting. I recently started using the line out in pulled out position and thats when things started getting really bad. Supposedly Minnies input can be trimmed so maybe thats an adjustable thing? I guess James would be te one to know. But it def sounds better with the line out pulled, but soon after the headroom drops like crazy....maybe the Hypex 700 is the way to go....its just so big! I love the size of the Minnie!

Size.... I have to say I love the look of the M700. After a few days with it I can say I really really like it. Sure the Minnie fit perfectly and is a sleek little package, but the M700 has style. I was playing today and stopped to take a few pictures, I could not help it.

A Surgex power supply. Not cheap, but awesome. The first gig and played with Monique she was running from the line out into the effects return of a Phil Jones sixpack. The power for the sixpack and the power from Monique were both coming out of the wall. Ground loop issues drove me crazy. I vowed that would never happen again but I did not want to carry around a rack with a power conditioner in it. This unit was designed to provide clean and constant power to a bank of monitors. No more ground loop issues on this end. It provided a solid base under Minnie and Monique, and I think it looks great on top of the M700. It also allows for super short leads for the power cords.

Wow. Well it def looks cool but thats way too involved for me. Ive toured all over the country with my monique and minnie and i dont think ive ever had issues with bad power. But i guess it depends on where youre playing....

I agree it is rare, but it happens :( I find the power supply makes it easier, the light I have on her just makes it look complicated. I really like the shorty power cables, it is easier to manage and travels easily. Also nice to only need one wall outlet. I think having regulated power and high quality surge protection also provides a little peace of mind given the other components. Jule had gone back and forth with changing the power inlet on the M700, since it draws so much juice. I feed her a nice thick 12 gauge wire. If I had to carry a couple of those that were 10 to 15 feet long they would take up a bunch of space. I like to keep all of my cordage as short as possible. To each their own!

Speaking of such things...I still haven't sent my Monique back for the last round of updates/changes. Jule, I know things are crazy, but is there a good window in the future to do that? Mine is one of the first of the rackmounts and it's had some things done, but not all/current.
Just put enough brain cells together today to grok this. February end-ish is reasonable, and if it isn't we will make it so.
No let up in sight. Much to be grateful for.
Monique will be featured in three NAMM booths this year. I think the secret is out.

Thats one thing I love about Jule. From day one hes only looked to better Monique and make sure that those who use it are happy. I was an early user of Monique (4 years now!) and jule was nothing short of incredible about making sure I had all the most recent upgrades as they happened. And all I paid for was shipping to him. Hes truly a special person and dealing with him and James is like night and day.
Coming up on 3 years for me and a very similar experience.

Jule told me to send my Dovecage back as he would be "more comfortable" if I did the upgrades. No bench charges here but mine was a fairly early one..:)

Yes. With 700 watts available wiring is going to matter. US customers get a 14 gauge IEC power cable, and it is important to use it.
The one supplied with Monique should not be used on the Amp.
I am also adding the Neutrik Power Con jack for several across-the-Atlantic customers right now, per their request. I can add it on for anyone comfortable with Power Con.

Thanks Jule. I'll hit you up mid February to make sure that you time window is still looking good and we'll go from there.

If you're like me and you want a single bag that will fit the Dovecage, the Minnie 800D, AND your assortment of cables for the gig, AND your miscellaneous items...

...I've discovered the following bag works really well. The main interior compartment is padded for the dovecage, the side compartment is padded on the side for the minnie (I put a towel on the bottom of the compartment for bottom padding, and there is an external compartment on the other side of the bag that is big enough for your cables. There are a number of other pockets for other items (allen wrenches, screwdriver, hand sanitizer, ear plugs, whatever). And it's cheap. This is a range bag and it's designed to carry a ton of weight.

I've moved from the StudioSlip bag to this and just thought y'all might be interested.

That bag looks like it would work nicely. Way less expensive than the studio slips bag. That being said, I have designed a bag for Monique, the M700, and accessories. Designed it not only to carry everything but also to fold up and store easily. I have no idea how to get it made :( I am going to try shooting Jule a PM, I'll scan an image of the design plans and see if he has any contacts, like he isn't busy enough ;p

Jule was nice enough (dude is actually too nice IME!) to do me a heavy on a new StudioSlips bag he had lying around the shop.

I think it is a great product, but yes it is normally pricy. I have used the StudioSlips bag a couple of times a week for over a year to lug around my Monique DoveCage and Minnie and it hasn't started to wear at all.

The only negatives IME/IMO with the StudioSlips bag is that the Minnie compartment zipper isn't as heavy duty as the one for the Monique and I could see it breaking much earlier than the latter. Also, if I ordered one, I would definitely get a second storage compartment (similar to the Minnie one) added for cables.

I can't complain in any case. :)

Hm thats weird. My bag has two compartments. One for the Minnie and one for all my cables....that was supposed to be a standard thing on it....
