Jule Amps Monique part 5

just want to throw a thought re Markbass
As I understand it...the loop in on the Markbass is sidechained or parallel and so if you plug a different preamp..(as I did my F2b), you still get the Markbass preamp/Eq

You have to switch the internal jumper leads to change it to series and get pure poweramp

something I would like to try and use an alternate preamp like the Jules Monique

as my Alembic did not improve the sound in parallel

Didn't know you could do that with the loop/jumper. If you could indeed access just the poweramp, that would indeed be useful for folks wanting the amp to do double duty. Not sure what the impact on loop tone/function would be.

I will just say I'm continually so impressed with Monique. The combo of my DE-CL compressor and Monique generates such an up front, punchy feel. Like in my bones. Just random praise.

Just ordered my Studio Slips bag for the Bamboo MONIQUE and I like it a lot! Fits like a glove.

The Monique and M700 BAG would be AMAZING.

Why did you decide to go with the separate preamp and power amp instead of the integrated Monique 700?
I went back and forth on this- asked around with buddies... If I had to do it again, I may have gone the other way.

1st choice was honestly aesthetics. I think the dovecage is gorgeous. That said, while at Jule's shop, I saw a Monique 700 on the shelf and thought it was also gorgeous. Very sleek.

2nd choice was the idea that the dovecage/bamboo I believe were the original manifestations of Monique. Jule has mentioned that, as these are hand built, he can just move a wire around and change a characteristic of an amp. While I know he wouldn't let a Monique out of the shop if it wasn't exactly what it was suppose to be, I think there is something to it.

Neither of those on there own really justify the increase in cost and possible decrease in convenience of having two units to deal with (Especially while waiting on a bag or case that can handle both). I think I ended up justifying my non reasonable 'reasons' with the following:

Chassis size/footprint- I was/am looking at some cabs that have a small footprint. The Hathor 1203 wouldn't fit the Monique 700 footprint, and the heat sink on the bottom of the amp doesn't give you the room to move feet around too much. The M700 is 5 inches smaller in one dimension.

And second, while you can use both the power amp and preamp seperately on the Monique 700, you can't physically seperate them. So if I have a hardware failure, I can have either half sent out to repair, while still holding onto the other, functional half.

Adventures in live sound. We had fun on Saturday, and got into a room that we'd been wanting to play for a bit...with a pretty full room. On soundcheck the soundwoman (awesome...seldom see those!) said she was getting a 'buzz' in my DI. I reached in back and indeed someone had moved my DI to ground from its usual lift position. I commented that it was strange, because I always have the DI set to lift...and she said that when she had plugged in the XLR she 'saw that it was lifted and switched it for me'. ;) Lifted, back to silent runnings. Which is good, because it's a room with a stupid nice reggae sound system.

I dig the light Mohawk.

I just realized that I rarely bother going into the Amps forum on TB anymore. I have had my Monique for 3 years and the thought of using another amp quite frankly just bores me.

I am a GAS freak generally, but have no plans to even look at other ampsin the foreseeable future. For me, a Monique just does everything I need it to and it is SIMPLE! I don't miss 10 band EQs and tons of buttons and dials to say the least.

Sorry, carry on!

Yeah it's been a while. I've been using my GKmb800 over the past 2 months because I had a lot of smaller gigs that required quick load in and out.... Until last night.

I finally got to use my Monique DC with M700 and audiokinesis 1203's and man did it slam. Full appreciation all over again. Forgot about how much detail and heft in each note. I guess I forgot how homesick I was!! :)

Looking forward to the long haul with mo from now until September. Really heavy schedule but will definitely be a happy camper. Thanks Jule!!!

Do you a hear a significant difference between the M700 and the Demeter minnie?

Have you ever run the Monique through the power section of your MB800?

I am about to acquire a Dove Cage and I'm going to audition it through the power section of an MBFusion 800 and a Streamliner 900 just to get an idea. If I really like it, I'll probably pick up a Minnie or an M700 for it.
