Jule Amps Monique Part III

Congrats! Cool thing for your wife to do.

I have said it a dozen times before and I will say it again... Monique is amazing and the best sounding pre on the market (IMHO).

Actually, Monique saved me money. :smug: Seriously, just in GAS fuelled amp (buying and selling) shipping costs alone. I have not bought a new amp (or even looked at new amps) in the 6 months or so that I have owned Monique. I have actually sold all of my others. I don't see me playing another amp any time soon either.

It is worth the wait IMO.:hyper:

Once again, my amazing wife astonishes me by ordering - behind my back, mind you - this gem for my birthday (which isn't until August!). Her generosity leaves me speechless.

When I asked her why she did it, she replied, "You said you had been dreaming about Monique lately; I want you to dream of me." Just... wow.

So, Jule said I should have it by May (perhaps before); I'll let you all know how we get along.

I plan on running Monique into a QSC PLX-1804 which will drive two fEARful cabs - a 12/6/1 atop a 15/6/1. That should be quite a rig!

Thanks to Jule for making such a fine pre-amp, thanks to TB for making me aware of it, and thanks to my beautiful wife for all that she has done for me throughout the years.

I am a stunned, happy, and blessed man.

wow i didn't even read that before...cool story...sounds like a keeper to me!

and +1. Monique is not cheap by any means, but compared to some of the price tags on gear these days, not to mention all the money I'd still be spending on my usual addiction of flipping gear, it's saved me thousands. I couldn't be happier with my sound and the thought of a new piece of gear hasn't even crossed my mind in a long time (other than the Minnie but that doesn't really count!)

Well crap, do I need to ditch my Streamliner 900 and get the De-Monique? Might sell something else.... I have an EA iAmp 800 I haven't played in a while.... Hmmmm

Every Monique arrives set up for local power, no matter where she goes. If you travel to different power grids she can be modified (by a tech) to handle the new place.

Want to take a moment and thank a customer in NZ for working with me to fix his recently arrived Monique. She worked for several days and then quit. Ended up being a broken wire at the input jack capacitor. (Probably nicked in manufacturing). Quick fix by local tech Fred Koke at Invalid Link Removed, with my assistance, but it was still a hassle for my customer. I appreciate his patience and help.

Fred is a good one if you are in the New Zealand area. So is my customer.

While I'm on the subject of bad stuff, three customers have said their blue light has flickered on them. Just the light, everything else is fine. Because of that we are changing to a more modern "robust" light socket. The original vintage (Fender rip-offs) are the root of this evil.

It is easy enough to open her up and slightly (with small pliers) compress that metal tube the light bulb fits into. That seems to do the job. Just removing the blue jewel and touching the light bulb seems to make it happy too.

Is anyone running another pre (or overdrive/distortion pedal) with Monique for grit?

I am having great success with my Sansamp Bass Driver DI Programmable. This pedal sounds great with Monique. I am using one preset for just a bit of boost, the second preset for heavy distortion and the 3rd is the Tech 21 recommended slap tone. I use all 3 at all of my gigs.

I don't have my Monique yet, but I might try something like this.

Are you running the SansAmp in front, or between Monique and the power amp?

I use the Effectrode Blackbird SR-71 preamp and one Tube-drive in front to Monique. These two pedals were modified by Phil Taylor (the boss of Effectrode) so that they can retranscribe the audio signal of my bass guitars whitout loss of lows frequencies.
Their tones are excellent through Monique.
