I love the request, and I like to imagine that I would have the time and energy to build a really big (+600watt) all tube bass head. The reality is that I don't think I will ever build an all tube bass amp any larger than 100 watts again. The last 100 watter (way too small for anything but studio work) weighed 54 pounds. As we add watts (an SVT is about 85 pounds) we keep adding weight.

For me there is another concern. With the high voltages required to put out that much power from a tube amp we start pushing the limits of what is electrically safe. We come to a genuine customer safety threshold I am quite reluctant to cross. This is not an issue with solid state high power amps.

The idea behind Monique was to provide outstanding all tube performance into a variety of amps and in a variety of situations. There are many excellent, small, power amps out there now that do the job very well without breaking your and my back.

Makes me feel good to know there are players who go to the gig with only their bass and Monique and just pick up a microphone cable on the stage to hook to the PA. Same thing goes in a studio environment.

I have been lurking and keeping tabs on this beauty and thread(s) for a while now. Finally had to log-in and say that the dovecage version has to be the most aesthetically pleasing Pre/DI I have ever seen. And based on all the rave reviews its getting, its definitely going on my short-list.

Has anyone compared the 800D to an all tube amp like Demeters VTHF-300M

I would love it if there was a way to conveniently attach the Dovecage version to the Minnie 800D.

The four ohm speaker impedance seems to be a fairly natural floor for now. But possibly in the future.

Not just high, but egregious and abusing. But yes, I am hoping to have a UK dealer for you where you can go and touch/play/enjoy Monique.

I'm working out an arrangement right now with a store very near London. Hoping to finalize soon. Shouldn't say yet who it is in case it does not work out.

Well, folks... it looks like I'm in the production queue for a rack-mount Monique!

Once again, my amazing wife astonishes me by ordering - behind my back, mind you - this gem for my birthday (which isn't until August!). Her generosity leaves me speechless.

When I asked her why she did it, she replied, "You said you had been dreaming about Monique lately; I want you to dream of me." Just... wow.

So, Jule said I should have it by May (perhaps before); I'll let you all know how we get along.

I plan on running Monique into a QSC PLX-1804 which will drive two fEARful cabs - a 12/6/1 atop a 15/6/1. That should be quite a rig!

Thanks to Jule for making such a fine pre-amp, thanks to TB for making me aware of it, and thanks to my beautiful wife for all that she has done for me throughout the years.

I am a stunned, happy, and blessed man.

I got my custom bag for Monique and Minnie today from StudioSlips. Bag looks amazing and fits Monique beautifully, but unfortunately the extra large padded pocket I requested to hold the Minnie was way smaller than we had discussed. Soooo, had to send it back and wait a few more weeks....:( I'm ALWAYS waiting!!!! Anyway, my point was, don't hesitate to order one of these bags if you have the cage Monique. It's fantastic. Looks and feels like a top notch gig bag. Just make sure they fully understand what you're looking for before you order if you want custom work done! I'll post pics when I get it back I guess....
