Jule Amps Monique Part III

The two Monique outputs in a clean studio environment are going to sound different. That is the reality of a transformer driven versus a pure tube driven output.

On stage, in live environments, there is so much going on that I doubt anyone will be able to catch the difference.

Others are out there right now doing exactly what you are asking about. Maybe they can share their experiences?

I will be running it with a Carvin HD1500 and hopefully I can get my friend to sell me his Crown Microtech 1200. I know the Crown has a variable sensitivity from 0.775 to 1.4, but I'm not sure about the Carvin. It is a Class D amp, but I'm fairly sure the Monique would work fine with it.

I'm in the Sacramento area so hopefully I can come down and pick up the preamp when I buy it. I love Santa Cruz and the shipping is about as much as the gas down there...

The James Demeter Minnie 800D amplifier has an all solid state output section. That means no load of any kind is required. (One advantage of solid-state-ness) With no speaker attached it draws practically no current and hence does not heat up. Cool.

This is completely different than the SVT world where a speaker must always be hooked up.

That sounded great, loved the take on Red Clay! I'll be vacationing in SOCAL (Disneyland trip for the kids) from 4/1-6. Would love to try & catch a public gig of yours and hear the fodera/monique live and direct... Will PM ya around that time and hopefully ya have somethign going on...

She's here! :hyper:

Picked her up at the FedEx place this morning.

So far I've been limited to strictly visual admiration, as she's currently confined to the trunk of my car. Not quite as fancy an outfit as the dovecage or bamboo, but quite the beauty nonetheless.

Though it may be quite late when I get the chance, I'm hoping to put her in her new home, plug in and give her a go tonight.

Can't wait! :bassist:

Nope, the Tardis comes as a pre too, mine was the first one jule made like that and it came out of a thirty minute conversation of me asking "can you make it lighter," and jule said no, "can you make it smaller," and jule said no, then I asked about an aluminum chasis, and jule said no, I asked again, and he said maybe... And within 30 minutes he said yes.

I don't remember if it went exactly like that, but it sure makes for a good story of being persistent. :) thanks jule, I still love it, and its going into the studio this month.

It's just not listed as an option on his website. That's cool and another option to consider. Although I like the idea of being able to rack it with a lightweight power amp.

Was it your idea to call it the Tardis, too? Never once saw an episode of Dr. Who, but that name is hilarious to me ;)
