Just 1 brand, or more brands?

One brand for me: Martin Keith Guitars.

I've owned a ton of other brands previously:
F-Bass, Ritter, Benavente, Nordstrand, Valenti, Rickenbacker, G&L, Musicman & EBMM, Fender, Gibson, FBB, Spector, Elrick...

I've had basses from Peavey, Ibanez, Fender, Ernie ball, Warwick, and Conklin. I played warwicks the longest by far, I had four Warwick 5 strings(thumb NT5, thumb bo5, corvette FNA, and Corvette standard). For me having multiple basses back then was about having a main and a backup and anything else was used for different tunings like F#bead, or EADGC and so on. pretty much why I eventually ended up with a 7 string. Its so much easier and cheaper to change 7 strings then it is to change 20.

I'd love to have the money to buy every different format, I'd have fretted, fretless, 8 string (4x2), AEB, EUB and so on. but I can't afford to have all of them at the same time

I've had different Fender, Squier, Ibanez, Yamaha, Epiphone, Warwick, Ashton, and Torch basses. I still have basses made by all but the last three.

That said, though I had a space if time where I gigged everything, nowadays and in the past I've had a tendency to gig with Yamahas. So it has taken me eight brands to settle on one... For now.

I've had Cort, Danelectro, Epiphone, Fender, Kingston/Teisco, Line6, Ovation, Peavey, Saga Schecter, and Washburn.
The Ovation stays... forever. And I like to keep at least one Washburn around (so criminally underrated, especially the old stuff).

My brand loyalty is Acoustic Control amplifiers, and even that's not 100%. For instruments, I have absolutely no brand loyalty at all. They are all different, and I love having completely different instruments to play when the mood strikes.

The 5 I have at the moment are all Ibanez; 4 SRs', and 1 Roadstar II. Sure there are several boutique basses I'd like to try, but I really don't need them. I've tried Fender, Squier, G&L, Peavey, LTD, Luna, Schecter, Traben, and maybe a couple more I can't remember, but I always come back to my Ibanez SRs'.

I do like the Carvin Bromberg ... maybe someday.

Two brands, Fender and G&L, but all designed by Leo Fender. (Not sure my HH Strat counts as a Leo design though.) If I had to pick one non-boutique brand, it would be G&L, for guitars as well as basses. I've also owned Peavey, Ibanez, and DiPinto.
