Just because Jaco is cool

This is from Bill Milkowski's book on Jaco - he (using the Drummers Collective contact phone #) used a pic from this same photo shoot to try and retrieve his stolen basses back in the dark days of his life. The bass in the pic is neither, but judging from the hs decal it's yet another early 60's J w/a stripped body.

Hey, I own that exact bass but can't prove it. Anyone wanna buy it for $50k? It's legit, trust me. I bought it from my cousin's barber's niece's gynaecologist's mechanic's son's guitar teacher who played Jai alai with Jaco in Florida in the early days.

Im impressed that you spelled Jai alai correctly, pronounced - Hi lie , nicely done.

his shirt game is 1000%

Too bad them maroon corduroys he's wearin' ain't. Hell, do they even make corduroy material anymore? I actually like corduroy jeans from back in the day. I used to style n' profile corduroys big-time back in the day. Man, I was the ****.:rollno:

Wow, I've never heard of him playin' a Sonic Blue '62 Jazz, like it says in the ad. Anybody know of any pics of said bass? I'd love to check it out.

I rocked a corduroy suit once upon a time. It was super-pimp! Unfortunately, there are between zero and one days per calendar year when you won't sweat straight through a corduroy suit in Texas.

I saw him playing the blue one with Hyram Bullock at Jonathan Swift's in Cambridge,MA early '86.

I've read about Jaco, and listened to some of his music and enjoyed it immensely. If memory serves he played on Cotton Avenue on Joni Mitchell's "Don Juan's Reckless Daughter" didn't he? I love that one. But I never have heard his name pronounced, and I'm not sure how to pronounce it at my next bass players cocktail party.

Is it: Jay-Ko, Jah-Ko, Yay-Ko, Yah-Ko? Or something different?

My guess (just for the record) is Yah-Ko.

Im thinking Jocko too.
In his instructional DVD he recalls a time when his dad was giving him advice, and he pronounced his name as Jocko when he recalled what his dad said.
