Does anyone else have a tattoo on there wrist? I have a bass clef on my wrist, and that hurt because I have skinny wrists so there isn't much flesh between the tattoo and the bone. (That's what makes tattoos hurt.)
also in case anyone wants to say anything about what it means:
1st screw you! Its my tattoo.
2nd it was a bonding thing with my brother-in-law (we got tattoos togher, not the same thing, my sister was going to get one also but not after seeing us both get one, his took awhile so it hurt as well)
3rd I love bass and am proud of my tattoo and when I am old and grey it will remind me of the good times I had playing and my brother-in-law (he is about ten years older than me so he will probably die first)
4th I want to once again say that after I get my black sash in kung fu I am going to get the brands of the tiger and the dragon on my wrists and that will hurt like h#ll. They are unique, the only way to get them is if you have a black belt in kung fu, can find some one who has they (I study with the grand master of my style and she knows someone who has them), and if you can go through the pain of having them put on. I can't wait:D

Tattoo's are more than skin deep to me. I have posted my tatt's on other off topic boards. Im up to 15 now. From the first, to the last they have a special meaning to me.

Do a search there are lots of them out there in TB land.

Also a lot of war Veterans have gottten Tattoo's on them, and now these are the people we work for. :D There are a lot of people who are tattooed but for their own reasons do not show them.
Ones walk with God is between them and God.

Hang out around prisons often?

Tattoos are so commonplace now that you're bound to meet somebody that doesn't fit your view of "functional" who also happens to have a tattoo. On the other hand, you may have friends with tattoos you don't even know about.

Sure, stereotypes and generalizations are a great way to save time. However, when you make assumptions, you're making an "ASS" out of "U" and "MPTIONS."
Wait...
I'll get it right.
Perhaps my "gross dysfunction" is kicking in.

NickelWound, so true bro! 9 out of 10 dudes that I have known with tatto's fit that assumption. just go down to the beach and see who has a tat.(Transplants from Ohio).everyone plus their pit bull has one these day. it's sickening..and they think it's reble looking too .. I find it kind of strange how some dudes/chicks will spend big bucks for tattoo's, but won't spend a dime to get their teeth fixed..a friend of mine calls these clones "The Mass Of The Great Unwashed"

some of do what we want... and don't worry about conformity because our intentions were true...
with the ever-increasing popularity of talk bass i could easily say:

:snob voice on: oh my god! people who have only joined talkbass now are, like, so conformist! it's pathetic that they don't have a mind of their own and join some other site. :snob voice off:

nice of you to be so accepting of a culture that you obviously don't understand in the least... or maybe it's just that you know that mommy would be very disappointed with her lil' pookums and daddy might take off his belt and besides it might sting a little getting the belt and the tattoo...

see how ridiculous assumptions and generalizations can be? or was i dead on? :eek: :rolleyes:

You never know, you could get hit by a truck a week after you get the tattoo. -then it would have been nice and meaningful your entire life. Either way your taking a chance that you made the right decision for you at the time.

Instead of getting inked up as a young man then having them sag as I get older, I'm waiting. I'm 43 now. I figure if I wait another couple of years I'll be mid-sag, then I can go ahead and get a couple of tats.

Likewise, I limit myself to 1 or 2 cigars a week. Once I hit 55 I'm going back to cigarettes.... maybe a pack a day.
