JUST ORDERED A SEI 7 !!

i saw your bass 7, it has the top on now but it still has a flat on the top, none of the edges have been dome or anything, but it is looking good.

i also saw Matt's bass, damn that thing is nice, and a little scary to play, i never thought i would say this but i think im gonna stick with my 5.

hey Matt when you going back to collect your bass?

Dave

He He I do like talkbass. 7 string in Glasgow has a bass built in London and other TBers keep him informed of progress. Where else would this happen:D

Fretlessbob

I spoke to Martin today and will be ringing him again next week to check progress and arrange a pickup date. re your earlier question, I am changing pickups from Bart G6 to Kent Armstrong customs as I was getting uneven volume accross the strings and also I wanted a fuller fretless sound the the Kent's could give me.

Going back to 7 strings bass is the colour of his top wood like his mock up or is it a bit darker?

Regards

Matthew

well actually it is quite a bit darker than the mock up, but it looks great, , the thing that really caught me abouti t was teh figureing on the top, its just lovely, those pics that are earlier in this thread do nothing for it, it looks a lot better than that.

when i looked at your bass Matt it had the front pickup out, i just had a little play un-amplified, i like the real faint lines, i was surprised that even acoustically it sang wonderfully and the higher strings sounded real full.

oh by the way i have put my Overwaters up there for sale at the Gallery nowso if anyone fancies a look be my guest, i felt real sad to leave them in the shop but the only bass that is getting play at the moment is my Fodera, and it has been that way since i got it, you guys know how it goes.

Dave

Thanks so much for news on my bass, Dave. Much appreciated !!

Matthew's right, I live in Glasgow, have a bass built in London (my home town by the way) and everytime someone goes to The Gallery I get a little update !! It's great that people can take time out to ask about another players' bass.

I'm driving down to London for a family do in a couple of weeks time, so I'll be able to drop in at the beginning of December.....

speaking of updates i saw your bass again today.

the body is all routed so it actually has the Flamboyant shape to it now, where as before it just had the top and back stuck on and it was a little rough, i was gonna grab a picture on my phone but it was so busy today i thought i better not get in the way by doing that, but seriously it cant be long now, they will probably have the fingerboard on within the next week.

Dave

no worries mate, it is really taking shape now, looking sweet too, that top just kills me.

they dont do paint in shop do they? i cant imagine where they would fit a paint booth.

next time you are down there make sure that you try out the Epifani stuff, i think they have pretty much the whole line in at the moment.

Dave

It's great to hear about the bass, especially that lacewood top !! I was lucky in that when I placed the order Martin happened to have lacewood in stock. The back's going to look as cool as the front !!

I'l try the Epifani stuff, I've heard nothing but great things about them.

Also, I came across the answer to the paint shop question recently in Guitarist magazine. They had an article on Martin Sims (of LED fame). He has a paint shop side to his business and it said that Sei, GB, Fender Europe and Ibanez use him...

Spoke briefly to Alex today.

All is looking good for my visit on December 6th. I told them about this thread and that Paddy and Dave have generously been keeping me updated, which he thought was cool.
