JUST ORDERED A SEI 7 !!

Bear with it 7 - it'll all be ok in the end. :smug:

My baby is STILL with the finishers. They have had it around 2 months now. Alex reckons there was a batch coming back on Monday and mine may have been in it. But the lacks of promised pics suggests it wasn't.

It's got to a point where I'm happy waiting - it'll be here when it's here and so will your masterpiece :hyper: :cool: :hyper:

Paddy - Thanks for the words of encouragement mate. I have something else in the pipeline to post about this bass in the next couple of days. Stay tuned !!

Basse - Yeah, I've been to see Alan. Great guy and some great designs and ideas. If it wasn't for the fact that a) Sei's are damn expensive and b) I can't work at the moment as I suffer from M.E. - I would definately order a bass from him !!

Are you going to tell us anything on this or are you going to keep all the details to yourself!!!! Just because it's your baby doesn't mean that you have the ownership rights to all the details ;)

Definitely popping up to the Gallery tomorrow to look at mine in the flesh. I'll do my best and try to get you some pics of yours...

OK, might not be much, but here's the scoop...

I've been in touch with Beavs Graphics. They can make a picture of your bass before it's even made. Every effort is made to make the rendering as close as possible to the finished article. Great value for money as well !! I've nothing but praise for them !!

Here's the finished rendering, which came to me on Saturday night, just as Match Of The Day was starting...

...and now Paddy has found out that the pink veneer problem has been solved (cheers, mate !!), construction should start in earnest !!

I wish I was able to have more for you than just the veneer turning up - I'd love to have some photos for you. In fact if I thought about it I could have taken a photo of the veneer ;)

That picture looks very cool - must get your pulse going a little

The machine heads on mine are going to be swept back a little so they are not completely vertical - I feel it may make it look a little more sleek but that's just me.

Paddy, just the fact that you've seen the veneer and told me that it had arrived is fantastic !!

The idea with the machine heads sounds interesting. Love to see how that comes out...

Received an e-mail from the Sei guys today saying that they are not happy with the veneer material.

This is both bad news and good news. Bad, as it means further delay (but, that doesn't really matter), and good news because they're not settling for second best or "it'll do".

Nice to have you on-board for the ride !!

I've been a fan of Sei's for a long time. When I was with Martin going through the specs, I jokingly said that I should have won the competition to have a Sei made in Guitarist magazine. Martin looked back through his file and saw that was back in 1996 !! So I've wanted a Sei at least that long.

If you have ideas for a spec, just send an e-mail through the Sei website at http://www.seibass.com Also, if you see something on a Sei build thread that you like just ask the author. I've been lucky that all the Sei people I've been in touch with were great in sharing ideas or just answering questions I had about their basses.

Kudos must go to Paddy (currently with a build thread of his own) and Matthew Foote, whose 7 string really tipped me over the edge to get this build off of the ground.

Got a message from the guys today asking me to choose a veneer from a whole list of stuff.

We (remember my girlfriend was choosing the veneer colour..) finally settled on this birds eye maple which has been dyed lilac, it's going to look great next to the lacewood !!

Well it's not very pink is it ;)

I thought the pinkish veneer looked pretty cool but it obviously wasn't up to their high standards. And that's what I love about dealing with the guys - they really, genuinely, only seem to be interested in the best of the best for their clients. They aren't scared to say something won't work or if something isn't up to standards. :)

Looks good - trying to mentally picture it beside the lacewood, can't wait to see pictures. What other options were you given?
