JUST ORDERED A SEI 7 !!

It's looking so good !!

When it gets it's finish, that scaly lacewood grain is just going to pop. :D I really like the veneer colour as well, just right to join the colours of the lacewood facing and the walnut body.

It's great to have the pics. I was getting REALLY frustrated not being able to see it. It definately makes the last few months of the waiting a lot more bearable !!

Cheers,
Mark

That I can relate to. Sometimes Martins reluctance to release pics can be a bit frustrating lol

I'm ok cause I can be there in about an 1hr so I force the issue ;)

Glad the pics have given some relief to the pain. Your bass really is a beauty and the pics do not do the fingerboard justice - it's absolutely STUNNING....

Not long 7 - honest.

Yeah, it's a relief to see it at last !!

The 'board does look amazing. I've always wanted a highly figured birds-eye maple board. I couldn't be more thrilled with the way it looks.... and that lacewood is ridiculous, every inch of that wood seems to have some kind of pattern to it..geez I could go on and on. Everyone who comes into the house is subjected to a 5 minute sililoquy about my bass !!

Needless to say I'm dang excited :hyper:

Thanks mate !! I've loved lacewood ever since I got my Jackson, but the figuring on that looks extremely plain compared to the Sei...

Yup, still teaching :bassist: I'm waiting for the results of my Open University course at the moment. It was a music course on musical elements, techniques and styles, first half of my Diploma in Music...

How many passengers does that hold?? ;)

Yup, I'm back again from my trip to London. Apologies for not posting sooner, but the 6 hour drive took a lot out of me and I spent most of yesterday in bed !!

Anyway, I went down to The Gallery to see my bass. It looks awesome, I couldn't be more thrilled by the way it was looking. In fact, John was working on it when I got there !! The bass is going to be sent to the finishers in the next week.

Martin expects that it will return and be completed by the end of January. I've said that it doesn't matter about the timescale as I was expecting to pick it up late Feb/early March.

Most of the hold-up has been down to the veneer material, of course. Martin showed me some that he wasn't happy with and, sure enough, it was more beige than pink !!

The next time I see the bass it'll be completed, so they'll be no more pics until then. Martin did offer to send a pic after the bass comes back from the finishers, but I've decided that it'll only be a couple of months anyway, so it'll be a complete surprise when I get down there.

The bass is extremely light compared to my Conklin GT7. OK, there's no hardware yet, but there's no way it's going to be anywhere near as heavy. It's also not as thick as I thought it would be.

Martin also measured the bass to give me an idea of the pickup position. We've moved it back very slighty, 15mm, the initial position looked a little too far forward.

So here are the latest batch of pics, one with Martin in the background making a cuppa !! On the last one, you can clearly see the pink veneer which looks excellent...

Now for a slightly more constructive post. It looks totally fantastic and in particular I am so taken with the birdseye fretboard. All too often birdseye isn't consistant accross the whole piece but your bit looks supurb. I also love the detail photo's which show Martins workmanship off so well, and also your choice of wood.

Just as well that the end of January isn't so far away so that I don't have to wait too long for the next set of photo's:D .

Regards

Matthew
