How about a used Fodera!? There usually are ones in the classifieds, but you have to be quick.. If you want to go a bit cheaper(or brand-new), Pedulla has never made a bad bass, and US Laklands are delicious. Basshilsen fra Norge.

One thing to consider is how much purchasing power $5000 USD has *in Sweden.* Because of taxes, import tariffs, etc, it may be a lot less than you think. I know that in some places, a MIM Jazz costs about $1500 just because of these add-ons. This would be something to find out before you start shopping!

If you are buying used (where dealer territory agreements and some of these taxes don't apply), and the seller offers international shipping, that's another story.

True. Somebody ^^^^^ up there talked about getting a Roscoe for $4000. Here in the UK a Roscoe was at around £3200 even at the time when the exchange rate was nearly $2 to £1.

Yes, i have a Fender P -75, bought new on my 15 th birthday...now, a few years later, it´s time to get another one And ofc price is not really the most important issue, it´s ofc how good the instrument are, easy to play and if it sounds great.

Today when the economy seems to be crashing, one can wonder what´s best...to buy a bass and enjoy it now or save the cash and see how the inflation eats it up ?

After going all out on a CB 6er, I think Cliff Bordwell is probably one of the best values out there. When I got my price quote, I just though, "wow, that's it? Cool."

I'm a big fan of the Modulus Q5, but whatever you choose, be sure you love the scale. when it comes to a 5, I have to go with a 35" scale.

For $5000, I think I would buy multiple basses instead of just one. No bass, no matter how flexible it is, can cover every possible situation. I think I would go for one Jazz-style boutique and one modern, humbucking style bass. Like a Sadowsky Metro and an MTD. Or a Nordy vJ5 and a Lakland 55-94. Maybe a Lakland 55-94 and a Fender Custom Classic 5? Too many good options out there to narrow it down to just one. Also, going used will get you more your money, even if you have $5000.
