Every time my wife played that stupid diss track, I'd be like "oh yeah, I like this one! 'They don't like us, they don't like us!'" until I ruined it for her.
His voice is wack, his lyrics are wack - I think he's lame af. I'm not even some old curmudgeon, he's just not good. In the pantheon of rappers throughout time, he's weak.
Also that Superbowl garbage feels like some dystopian ritual. It's not fun anymore. Football hasn't been fun since that middling quarterback kept trying to make a political spectacle of the national anthem. I've been watching classic football from the 80s and early 90s recently and it's like a completely different game. Does anymore remember when football players used to be mean?? What happened?

A combination of booze, bad hearing, and maybe a horrible mix, but I had NO idea what he was talking or singing about.

I understand many did not understand. I only saw a portion of it on News stations and did not understand that. To each his/her own but I don’t really care to understand. Just not my style “music”.
It's been explained to me and I get it but it's not what I wanted to see and hear during the Super Bowl. When it was announced that he was performing, I already checked out. However, I did watch the entire performance and was more focused on the visuals. Frankly, I'm tired of the entire narrative and want it to all go away! Social media won't shut up about it.
I was backing Philadelphia, but only for the hope that I didn`t have to "see how Taylor Swift was reacting " to every positive play. I have nothing personal against Kelce or Swift, but I tuned in to watch a game, not a reality show. I blame this on the producers who think this is what Joe Public wants to see. It`s not.

I got the message of the performance, but Super Bowl Halftime is not a place where I want a message. I want entertainment. and it just wasn't entertaining. I was bored.
It's not that I wanted it to be more spectacular. I don't care about spectacle; I care about good music and quality singing/musicianship. Kendrick's performance had neither. I also appreciate what I consider to be good rapping, and I wasn't impressed with the rapping, either.
Regarding the message - it was apparently aimed at a specific demographic, which explains why the message had to be explained to so many. If you're going for clever and subtle, then expect your message to be lost among a large segment of the population.

I vote for the Pat Metheny Trio playing the next Super Bowl halftime. That way no one gets what they want, except for the niche crossover of Jazz fans and football fans... like me.

So did I! I'm not really a hip hop fan, but I would rather listen to older hip hop than anything made after 2000 in that genre.
I'm a rock fan and metalhead, so the halftime show did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for me. I didn't understand whatever message Kendrick Lamar was trying to convey. The feud between him and Drake is totally irrelevant to most people. And I couldn't understand a single word Kendrick Lamar was trying to say. It sounded like chatter over this loud hip hop backing track.
As a younger millennial, I was supposed to be part of his target demographic. But I still don't understand why he did what he did. And quite frankly, I really don't care to know days later.
I always thought the halftime show was supposed to be entertaining. The last time it was, I was too young to even remember it happening!

A real sign that rock music is not as popular as it once was is that there really isn't a current rock band that is of any mass interest anymore to warrant a half time show.
