Killing defenseless animals (do musicians hunt?)

Not likely they would pursue poaching (at least they are relatively understanding in Maine) but you can be held accountable and levied a large fine. MY friend's dog has killed a couple of deer in it's life and,well...we went to school with a local warden. Probably helped.
actually here yes, depending on the animal....if you hit a deer on the road you cannot take it without first talking to a game warden/cop.....we have some funny laws here ....some groups have status to hunt for food, but i don't consider bringing a refrigerated semi out and filling it for sale elsewhere hunting....especially when whole herds are rounded up and slaughtered....not very sporting methinks

The examples of using venison for tamales or Indian food are perfect; we use ground deer for Mexican food all the time. It seems to work best with any recipe that calls for spicing the meat - it takes away the "gameyness" in the taste. The other problem is that it's incredibly lean and has a tendency to get dry very easily, but you can easily take care of that by combining it some kind of fat, like butter, oil or regular hamburger, and it will still be leaner and healthier than most ground beef you buy off the shelf from your grocery store.

Personally, I could REALLY go for some loins cut up into steaks, soaked overnight in a marinade of beer, red wine vinaigrette and worcestershire, then grilled medium rare. DO NOT go past medium rare, since they'll get overly dry, as mentioned. Do 'em right, and it's freakin' unbelievable.

I've harvested an antelope buck and whitetail buck so far this year. The freezer has more room so, I'll be going after elk and a whitetail doe this week and next week.

Same where I am from. All you ahve to do is call them and they come out and tag it for you and generally let you keep it. They don't technically have to, but what else are they gonna do with it? Beats having to deal with it themselves and leaving that much rotting meat on the side of the road is a health hazard. Dude clocked a moose on a backroad by my house a few summers back, took the head and some meat and left the rest to rot. Dear lord it was awful! The carcass swelled up with gasses until it finally deflated like a balloon full of the most horrid smells imaginable. Bleck!

I love Bambi pepperettes! Also, tenderloins on the BBQ...
Earlier i the thread someone mentioned that they didn't think there would be much wildlife in Toronto... guess again!
We have deer anywhere there is a wood lot. Fox, Yotes, Coyotes, heck, we've even recently had Possom showing up here... and are having a huge problem with Yotes stealing peoples cats and small dogs from their backyards!!!!
I personally am not a hunter, fisherman yes, but I have many many friends who hunt and are generous with their spoils...
Mmmmm pepperettes!

Look at this brusier I shot in Canada earlier this month in Quebec at my friends 300Acres. He is a ten pointer and weighed 220# dressed. I'm having the head mounted.
Shot him with a 270 manlicher .

I am surprised your friend is alive if he hit a moose.

I have a close friend who was driving behind someone who hit a moose. they died instantly, the moose went up and over there car and hit the hood of his car, flipping it 5 times.

he was lucky he was alive.
