Not that there's anything wrong with that...
What would Christopher Hitchens say?
Dr. Cheese, I'm not a Barry fanboy either. But, he's a whole lot better than the alternatives we were presented. That being said, I do agree with a lot of the things he said in the campaign. Could you imagine what would've happened if McCain was elected, and then died in office. Yikes !
That work's both ways. Can you imagine if (God forbid) Obama dies in office?
YIKES!!! Joe the village idiot president.
.George Carlin said:"Now, there's one thing you might have noticed I don't complain about: politicians. Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain't going to do any good; you're just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it's not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here... like, the public. Yeah, the public sucks. There's a nice campaign slogan for somebody: 'The Public Sucks. **** Hope
I've said it before, but I intend to stick to my intentions this time. This will be the last thread of this sort I will start. I will surely talk about race related issues, but I will post no more threads of black/white conflict or interaction. I am at peace with my reasons for posting, but I am tired of gettingcast as someone who is out to make whites look bad, as if I imagined the incidents that I have talked about.
I'm done. All of you who claim to dislike these threads so much need to put your money where your mouth is and stop posting too.
It doesn't appear on my iPhone. I am still bot convinced that this is a thread about white people being racist towards black people. I think people are looking to find that angle to support their hypothesis about Cheese. The reality is there is no racism here, just a case of insensitivity at worst and just "oops" at best. My honest first reaction was a knights hat.
I mean would this story change at all if the teacher had been black?

Blazing Saddles has come up in this thread. I have to comment. This hilarious movie also carries a powerful message of just how ridiculous racism is. I've seen it come on cable TV recently, politically corrected to remove the unmentionable "N word".
Unfortunately, the movie becomes completely unfunny and completely loses the message of the stupidity of racism in this "sanitized" version.
But dammit, it's politically correct. Congratulations PC police and self made victims. You shot yourself in the foot.
There's clearly someone responsible for the fact that Blazing Saddles is apparently censored on television.
Whoever that is, we need to string them up by their feet, Mussolini-style.

I actually think it's a good thing for broadcast TV/basic cable. I can understand the angst if that's the only meduim available, otherwise... rent the DVD or stream it.
I've never been one to sit around thinking "I don't want to hear them dub in "mother father", I need the original word to get the point across". Frankly I think this in part lead to the coarsening of our society and I'm not sure why that's necessarily a good thing.

One of the things about the language in Blazing Saddles is that the language in it is such a powerful part of the movie. It's not like bleeping out a swear here or there, it's an integral part of that movie.
Either way it doesn't make much of a difference to me cause we have it on DvD and I think bluray, so I can watch it uncut however I want, just like the original Star Wars (HAN ****ING SHOT FIRST!! sorry).
The coasening of our society seems like a strange concept to me. All words have their place, and I would hope that people have the understanding to use them properly.
In other words, calling someone a "mother father" just won't do!
Sidenote--I own Blazing Saddles on DVD as well.
Exactly... so why is it important that it be uncut on regular TV?
I don't get it.
