Seriously, I don't mind getting opinions and input. I didn't think to sculpt the face a bit more. Sometimes you stare at something too long and a new set of eyes might see something that you're missing.
I pictured your suggestion in my head and liked it.

Let's be honest, my pine brontosaurus bass is a few notches above anything Keisel puts out.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if they offer a few mil for the design or offer me a job.

I'm sitting here, doodling plans for the control cavity layout and was wondering:
does the 9v need to be separated from all the electronics? Can it be within the same cavity, only separated by a plastic or wood holder? If it is within the same cavity, does it need to be within the shielding, or do the electronics need to be shielded from the battery?

I'm working on 5 pots, a switch, jack and a battery in a cavity roughly the size of the one you just posted

You can put the battery in the cavity. The battery casing is metal, so wrap it in something non-conductive to avoid shorts.

But it’s so much nicer having a battery box.

Better to plan it out now. Make sure you include space for things like actually removing the battery - depending on the clip style you use, you might need some "swing space" in front of or behind. And include space for wiring. And working on it. And make sure your pot positions allow space for the lugs, not just the pot bodies.

And make sure you consider the bump-outs for screws or magnets to hold the cover on.

Can you tell I've made my share of design mistakes when it comes to control cavities?

I did a nicer, neater drawing that was to scale, but there were a few mistakes in pen that are confusing and I can't erase, so this is a quick tracing.
Something like this.
I may go back to a typical layout, but I wanted to see how this looked.

I'm considering mounting the old battery box right in the cover, so that I can just open for the battery or unplug it and remove the whole cover, battery and all.

I also think I might make a jig plate to mount everything to so I can rewire and neaten everything up, then transfer it. I know I originally said I wanted to keep it the same and just transfer the whole mess over and keep the the same plastic cover, etc.
But, I'm in this far, I might as well keep going.

I think so. But you might have more patience than me for working in a cramped cavity.

Also, I don’t like knobs that close together.

What does the harness look like right now?

Oh boy, pretty nuts. I kinda have a thing for messy wires (makes my eye twitch), but for the sake of KISS, I was going to leave it all as is and just transfer it. But, like everything else, I can't leave anything alone.

I guess you can try it with your pine body and see how frustrating it is it goes.

I think the biggest potential issue is how much closer I would have the knobs together on the outside.
But with them sitting on the bass right now, they seem pretty manageable. Being in a straight line makes it easier to have them closer together than if they were in a cluster.
I'll leave it on the drawing board for now.

Actually,.....if there's a way to eliminate the mids pot and just have volume, sweep, bass and treble, without screwing anything up, I'd go for that.

You can easily replace the full size mid pot with a tiny trim pot of the same value and leave that in the cavity so it can still be adjusted, just not with a knob.

Some people do this and mount the trim pot in the cavity and make a small hole in the cover so you can adjust it.
