18v. But the only active preamps I have are aftermarket, spec’ed for either 9V or 18v. For OEM, all bets are off.
You wanna use whatever voltage it was stock (likely 9v on that bass)
Oh yeah, no, I'm leaving mine as is. I was just curious as to why some have 2 batteries. I never knew they made 18v electronics for instruments. I assumed it was all 9v.
Technically, you could have (2) 9v in parallel and double capacity if you really needed it. Probably not worth the hassle and I don't wanna give up the space.
Crap, that's gonna need a ton of wire nuts.

Wire nuts are pretty much frowned upon in instruments... I'm sure you meant solder and heat shrink...
Just kidding. I'm going to rewire it all on that template and then I can just transfer the whole thing into the bass.
Then I just have to solder the pups and jack.
It actually fits better than I thought it would. It should look a lot better when the wires are all neat and tucked up.

That could work.
I pulled apart a VGA cable and it has most of the colors, but the wires are something like 28 ga.
Not sure I wanna go that thin.
Rainbow ribbon cables were a thing, but I think they are more of a past thing now, and thin wires. If you are good hoarder you might have some multi-conductor cable that might be different colors inside. Or junque electoniques with wires inside (though most of those are mono-colored in modern stuff) If you are one of those clutter-free people you'd have to scrounge at the recycling center, or on trash day, or from some hoarder you know... but you had a VGA cable 
If 24Ga solid will do you, Cat5e/Cat6 network cables (for use in walls/ceilings) have 4 colors and two patterns pre-twisted. You can find 23/22 Ga, but not easily. The stranded stuff in patch cables is usually also smaller wire again.
As for reasons for a battery box, one is so that if the battery goes bad and leaks you don't have corrosive goo all over the electronics. Compartmentalize the damage.

Your pickups have something north of 5,000 feet each of 36ga or finer wire. An extra ten or twenty feet of 28ga around the controls will be nothing.

Threw it all in my shoebox of bass parts.
So, I got the wings chewed out and resawed a cover from the book matched mahogany. I needed to get that done and get my resaw blade off the saw before someone tries cutting a steel fence post or something stupid.
So, I want to glue the front/back wing sections to each other so I can joint the neck sides with the router.
Is there anything else I should do before I glue them up? Not sure if I'm going to route wire chases first or drill them after. Anything else?
