Lakland 01 Club Part 2

Thanks Chef! This is my first 55-01 and I have to say I am more than impressed. I have had literally dozens of laklands and this one has the best feeling neck out of them all. It is an '02. It will also go well with its quilted siblings

bama; that's pretty!

that's a *great* spec, and if you're gonna deal with *any* 5 string neck, this will be as suitable as anything.

remember, keep your elbow tucked in to your body, and your thumb below center on the neck.

Here's my 55-01. It has been modded with Nordstrand Fat Stacks and a Nordstrand 3 band pre with passive tone control...I like it so far, but we'll have to see if my hands can cope with the 5 string neck!

Josh, sweet bass. I am thinking it is silver and not white... is that correct? If by chance you dont fall in love with it, there are plenty out here ready to adopt it and give a good home!!
BTW, come join us on the Lakland Owners Group site as well.

Thanks Chef! I'm working hard to get it where I like it. I may make Vic work on it a bit while I'm home, since he has a knack for being able to set action a bit lower than I can with no buzz!

Correct, that is inca silver I believe. I'm REALLY hoping that I fall in love. I really enjoy Laklands, and this might have been a bad move on my end, since I have little spare cash to buy basses! ;)

I'll check out the site, thanks for the link!

@JoshB

Hey Josh maybe you could post some clips i really want to hear that nordstrand setup you got there =) Maybe you could play the slap tune in Laklands page =)

I really don't have a ton of time to post clips at this point, but I have a couple videos you can check out of me playing the bass...

http://vimeo.com/12716956

Settings I was using for this clip are volume full up, blend set to about 25% to the bridge with the bass boosted a bit. It almost sounds like I'm slapping in this clip, but I swear, it's all fingerstyle. I'm a crap slapper.

There's another clip as well...

Same settings.

Both times you're hearing more of the house mix which is the Lakland through a putnam modded VT bass pedal. :)

Hope that helps.

Curious about those fat stacks. What do they sound like? Been thinking of switching to something like that based on the write ups but never met anyone who is using them.

Here's my 55-01! I've been generally happy with it except for it's really "honky" midrange is hard to tame (especially with my AI Contra). I think putting DR fat beams helped with the lower end. but I'm about to take the plunge and go for some big singles (I'm a fan of the active jazz-type tone) and maybe an audere pre later down the road after reading some of your guy's success stories with the nordy pickups!
