Well, as I was saying, it's got sentimental value.
It's my dad's '72 American P (which he got second hand). It's got a J pup installed at the bridge, bridge changed for BadAss II, Basslines pups, and it's gone from 3TSB with black pickguard (never seen it like that) to some sort of White with Black PG, to now a natural finish and a Stingray style control plate. It's my first bass, and it's not without it's faults, i.e heavy, slight buzz on neck, 8th fret or so on the E (my D) string. So I don't think I'd get much for it, but it still plays and sounds great, I love it.

Luke.

so....a PJ...huh? and modded.....post a pic (it will be safe...trust me :ninja:).....actually sounds intresting...

being that is IS dad's we'll let is slide....:hiding:

the buzz can be handled with a slight neck tweak.....

Oh man, mixing up your animals big time. Pandas, native to Asia, eat exclusively bamboo, whereas Koalas, (Aboriginal for "No drink") native to Australia, and eat Eucalyptus leaves, and very rarely drink water, hence the name.
The LOG thread: Fun and Informative!

Luke.

ooops.....sorry......nice to learn from a pro...... like you said "Fun and Informative!":help:

I seriously have tried to cut back a bit since I saw the last tally.
Also Doug, I'm taken lol, like many of you older fellows. It must be a bass player thing.

Luke.

who you calling old?

OK, new bass....Monster Player.....Great Tone......

Unlined Fretless....NOT-SO-MUCH....I Suck

Aaron...it takes time.....how long did it take you to learn a frettted bass? how long before you could play "well".....be patient....it has not been long enough....maybe it is time to get a lined fretless....I KNOW who makes some sweet ones....a HB fretless might be nice.....

Hey, just wondering what happened to the Jerry Scheff model? Did the guys at Lakland discontinue it due to a lack of interest and sales etc?

Luke.

lack of interest killed it....they did not sell too many....you can still order one but it is considered a customization now instead of a standard model...

I have never really played the lipsticks so I can not tell you what they sounded like....

Hi Guys.
I was just wondering if its possible to tell if my DJ% has been pleked and what pups are in it from the serial number.
Mine is 081228xxx if that means anything (other than being made in 2008)
Its a slow day so its just my mind wondering.

Lakland pickups....late 2008...doubt it's PLEK'd.....Plek did not come in until 2009.

Any new news? I know you were not very happy with the sound....

I just saw the bass player from Spinal Tap playing a Lakland during some concert on the VH1CR channel :D

If I remember right, it was red with 2 soapbar pickups and 5er so I'm guessing it was a 55-01

I'm trying to learn my Laklands by sight ;)

He also used this one at the "recent" Earth Day Concert:
