who owns that bass now? This guy! It's incredible. After starting a few threads about Juan's Laklands, and being a fan of the basses and band, I never thought I'd own one of his basses. Crazy world.

it was orginally going to have two single coil j pickups, and the fretless was getting the humbuckers. Needless to say, there was a slight mis-communication and the wrong body was routed for the humbuckers. They offered to build another body, but I figured it would be a good chance to give the humbuckers a spin... man, they sound huge.

Evan: actually, I think this is the way it was MEANT to be....the CHIs add to the "bling quotient" (in a good way) and the fretless is somewhat more traditional...

yea, man. I just spent the past few hours playing it and my other basses.. tell me, with your 4-07, does it over overdrive your amp even at low gain settings?

powerful stuff......I can see where it might overdrive with the J-retro....

It is a great tone. Is the JO pickups configuration the same as a Fender Jazz ? That’s the fretless tone I’m after on my Fender.

Go for it....Lakies have some of the BEST fretless sounds out there....and yes -the CONFIGURATION is the same...the "magic" however, is PURE Lakland....
