I'm loving it. The humbuckers are great (especially in passive mode). Fat bottom for days!
Visually, it is very cool. As you can tell by the other basses in the pic, it is a little bit "bling" for me. I think it'll be really funky on stage though. After 15 months, I can finally sleep.

Nope! I didn't change it! Don't have any 5er's in this house!

Thanks, Markus. Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious here, but you apparently were/are the webmaster for Lakland? I remember now where I saw the 2.9 in number: it was on Bass Emporium's website. They list the 55-01s and 55-02s as 1.75 in at the nut and 2.9 in at the last fret. That's much more in line with other 5 strings that I've played. I've ordered a 55-02 from MF, so hope to be reading more about this wonderful Lakland product.

it was orginally going to have two single coil j pickups, and the fretless was getting the humbuckers. Needless to say, there was a slight mis-communication and the wrong body was routed for the humbuckers. They offered to build another body, but I figured it would be a good chance to give the humbuckers a spin... man, they sound huge.

I'm a newb here but I have to say that it looks great! It's a classic look and you really can't beat it with the inlays and pearloid pickguard.

Thanks, Thump!

Thanks, man. I was nervous about the sonic blue to be honest, and I'm sure there are some people who will hate it. But, I'm feelin' it and that's all that matters.

Nothing to be nervous about. It is one of the classic Fender colors. Your other basses have more than enough toughness to go around. I love it and plan to have a sonic blue someday.

No problemo! Yes...I designed and maintain the website, and design all their latest print stuff. Plek'd tags, new catalog, stickers, control sheets, etc. I'll check with Dan or Kirk and see what they want me to do. Thanks Dude!

I think it turned out for the best, in my opinion! Hope you think so too Evan!
