LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #28

Hey Guys.
Well,stage one is complete.
Got this back on Sat and took it straight off to a gig. It sounded great and im happy i went ahead with it. While its not a Fender P it has a much thicker tone and its close enough.
Ive got the bridge pup on a push pull knob to take it out of circuit when not using it and this works well.

I really love the look of it now as well. I was going for a tort PG but black looks great. The pics really dont do it justice. I found it difficult to get any decent, reflection free shots tonight.

While this was going to be the end of it i now find the bridge pup is picking up a lot of RF noise. While i didn't expect to use it i found the two pups together made a nice tone. I believe this is the norm for a single coil pup although i never noticed it before.
So i guess ill now look in to getting a humbucking pup to go in the bridge position.
Also thought about a MM pup instead but not sure i want any more routing done.

man, that's great! Thanks for the input. I love it all black, except I know how painful it is to keep it clean, esp. under the stage lights.
As for the RF issue, you may wanna ask Stew at nordstrand:
[email protected]
or the guys at Lakland.
Also, if I remember right, the placement of the NP5's halves on Doude's BG5PJ was changed due to the RF issue, so this happens

Thanks denchiq.
I have changed the two half's around as the shop put them on the other way around. These pics were taken after i did it.
Only thing is i changed them around after the gig though so i cant tell if its made a difference until the next gig on Sat as at home it all sounds fine (and did before).
I have emailed kirk to see what he thinks as i guess its a problem with the Lakland pup.

To be honest its not that loud. Its not like its louder than the notes, just that its louder than before (actually i never noticed it before) and is noticeable on quite sections.
Still, im very happy the Nordy worked out, great earthy tone.

It does seem to be hard to keep this one clean but then i dont normally bother wiping them down regularly. I suppose i should really. This Black sparkle is probably the best finish ive had and im really love the way it looks now.

hope everything turns out right. Some RF noise is to be expected from a true SC but it is surprising you get more of it than when the bass was a JJ but one pickup was on OR louder than the other... did I get it right?

Im sure it will all get sorted.
The big issue i have with ti is that its there if both pups are on or just the bridge pup. Im never going to use the bridge pup on its own but do want to use the two together at some point.
volume wise both pups are pretty close but of course with both full up there is a slight drop.

interesting... keep us on track
anyways, you did a great job!

they look cool. Only the VTC (sorry! I know! :) ) seems different. Not the curvature of the dome, but the finish looks different too.

VTC? It's the way the lighting hits that knobs in that picture. They are the same finish. They wouldn't be on there if they were different.

Now you need shiny fretboard markers. Or maybe LEDs with shiny rings - I think Alembic and Warwick do this

I hope you're joking:eyebrow:

Ok, so I really can't get over how awesome these DR Lo Riders are on my 44-02 (w/ barts). Deep, articulate, punchy... To be honest, for a while I was starting to wane in my love for the tone out of my Lakland, but these things livened it up like crazy. It actually feels like it has that nice passive punch you get from a good J or P bass.

Nice! I'll have to try them!
