Maybe get some single coil chi-sonics installed and be done with it. I really dig the sound of the neck chisonic soloed.

No way. I don't dig the Chi's personally. I like the grindy snarl of traditional single coils.

Yeah, you're doomed..... until you get a Dunn, bro. It's in your head now and you just won't be satisfied until you get that Dunn. Just make it easy on yourself, save your money and come to accept it.

Money isn't the problem. I have it sitting in a paypal account from another bass I've already sold. The thing is, if I get the Dunn and it sounds too much like the DJ, I'll have buyer's remorse even though I'm sure I'd love the bass. It looks beautiful, especially the candy apple red with a black guard. Part of me just wants to get it cause I love a good P bass, and I don't have one in the stable. So maybe even if it didn't offer a whole lot more tonally, it would be cool to have one. Hmmmm.....

I don't dislike it, but it's too dark for my tastes. I can appreciate that some like it, but every clip I've heard of the Chisonic's just hasn't appealed to me. I like the more aggressive top end and mid-snarl of the single coils in a jazz bass, and the same in a P bass. I very much dislike the tone of the Decade with the Chi's, which is heresy I know around here!

I've liked pretty much every Lakland JO, DG, BG, or Dunn I've heard with Lakland, Fralin or Aero pups. That's just my thing I guess.

I'll probably have a Duck Dunn by the end of this week.

Okay, guys! I need some help! I've been playing my DJ very often with the neck pup solo'ed in one band, going for a P-bass feel. It really kills...and it's killing me. It's making me want a Duck Dunn! I've played P basses plenty, and I love them for the most part. But I've been at the Lakland website comparing the audio clips of the Jazz basses (neck pup only) to the Glaub and Dunn basses. The differences are so minimal it almost makes me think it would just be a waste of money to buy another instrument as I am NOT going to part with my DJ's.

I know how these things go, that if I compared the two side by side then it would be easier to gauge the differences in the two instruments. But I also know that nobody else would likely notice it.

Should I pick up a Dunn or just be happy that I love the sound of my DJ's neck pup?

pick up a Dunn.....they will sound different enough "live".....if not, you can always sell it.....
