I got out of work a little later than I wanted, so I missed the first set. My 2 bandmates played though, probably about 50 people there and they were digging it. I get there and by the time the list goes through and we're up again, theres 5 people there and getting ready to peace out, so we played one song which I botched and then took off.

Eh, theres always next time.

After further review...and a few surprises, I will be going to Florida State most likely.

It's got the 3rd Largest music program, behind Full Sail and Berklee.

It's also public, so much cheaper.

and..

the kicker I was told..

I've already got my tuition paid for at any public Florida school!

Seriously, though--if they have that good of a music program, then go for it. Otherwise, go to Gainesville. I'm a UF grad, so I'm biased. But I have a longtime, unbiased friend who teaches in the South Florida area who says the academic gulf between UF and FSU is really widening. I guess that won't matter if their music program's rep is excellent.

I'm a UF and FSU grad. I'm a Gator first, but lived in Tallahassee for a while when at grad school. (Was too much fun wearing the loud orange shirt on FSU campus after 2006 championship.)

In all seriousness, FSU does have an excellent music program. In my experience I'd say the that is one of their strong suits - along with other liberal arts majors. UF has a killer engineering and science schools, to include medicine and law.

Congrats on the decision and paid tuition, Jarrhead!!

as far as I know...all Lakie strings are custom made for Lakland by GHS.

I have checked them out side by side and they are identical from what I can tell. I think the custom aspect is the length. Laklands are a bit longer for standard through body stringing.

So it's Spring Break here next week. Our kids are going to spend some time a Music Camp. My daughter (who plays flute in an award winning Middle School band as well as takes piano lessons at the music school where the camp is being held) and my son (who plays drums in a different, non-competitive band at the same school) were told they could pick whatever instrument they want to play at Music Camp. My son chose drums. Any guess what my daughter picked? Ukelele! Yeah!

Just kidding. She wants to play bass! Better start saving for that short-scale Decade...

Dude, I just read your sig. Sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet bass. I live *way* too far away to ever see the axe or any sort of clues, btu you have my sincere condolences... and my hopes that you will find the bastard and break his knees.
