Both wearin' Dunlops right now. I did that so I can compare. I need to let the new strings settle in a bit before I can get an accurate comparison.

I love that neck on that.
Falls right to hand, completely natural, and has a perfect amount of extra on the far sides of B and G.

I'm not gonna miss the Sadowsky Metro RV5-PJ I sold to fund this, even a tiny little bit.

fwiw;
i ran my basic setup on it before rehearsal

briefly, this means setting relief to where it "just doesn't buzz" when fretting at first position
string height set at 1/16 off the board at 12th position while fretting first position on the G string; adding just a hair for each larger string
pickups set at 7/74 (neck) and 5/64 (bridge) b/t the bottom of the string and top of the pup while fretting at last position

plays out *awesome,* and I love the easy access to the upper frets that the 55 body allows, when I actually use that....

reset the knobs so the white lines are where I like them when "wide open" for easy visual reference...I tend to run neck wide open, bridge cracked shut a bit, and tone wide open...mostly;)

As a reference as to where this feels like it fits in my arsenal of go to favorites, in no real order:
Sadowsky RV5-JJ; alder, r/w, Hum cancelling J's...this is a big, modern sounding JJ; big lows, high highs, pretty modern JJ sound
Valenti JJ5; alder, r/w Sadowsky single coils and preamp...more traditional grindy mid-punch JJ made more so by the Sadowsky preamp
Alleva LG5; alder, r/w...very big and organic, but the preamp does let you make it more aggressive...

and, Midas;
which seems to round the Gang of Four out nicely by being all passive. Can't really comment on it's overall character til it gets out in the work force, but it seems to be "a great passive JJ' so far, which is what I hoped for out of it.

Boy, me and the 535 didn't bond, even a little bit.
It was a fabulous piece of craftsmanship and I highly respect MT's work...but dang, the tone palette just wasn't even close to being my thing.

That puppy flipped right out of my arsenal to someone who is really happy with it...as it should be!

I like this bass really well so far, and have posted some comments over in the lakland megathread if you care to go read them.

My first US Lakkie, and she seems to be pretty much what I'd hoped for so far.
