Too high...I like to float my thumb.

+1 to the floating thumb technique. Then you don't have worry about what's where and how/where you're going to anchor.

When I started playing again a few years back, I concentrated on not anchoring and floating instead... one of the best things I probably did. My playing is much cleaner. Turned out, it wasn't as difficult and didn't take nearly as long to switch as I thought it woul.

Yeah, the visual balance of the pickups in relation to the contour of the pickguard is pretty awkward on that one to me. The curve between the bridge pickup and bridge makes it look way too crammed... like it was forced to fit in there.

Have you thought about extending it back more so that it terminates at eh bridge, maybe even wrapping around the front contour of the bridge a bit?

Eh, looking at it again, I don't think that would look right either unless you could make it a bit bigger toward the back, but the knob placement impedes that from being possible. Did I just quote myself?

You should probably just order a different bass in the color you want, that allows you to do what you want to do to it, and give that one to me as is. :D

Ok gang... my obsession with and switch to flatwounds on most of my basses continues. With the exception of my 5'ers, most all of my 4-strings are wearing flats now. I'm seriously considering going to flats on my 44-02 as well. Are any of my Lakland bretheren running flats on their 44 or 55-02's (or their American counterparts)? Impressions, thoughts?

Last week my son's school Jazz band won a bunch of awards in an area competition at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk!

He's a photo of my son holding down the bottom and the event

We didn't want him taking his Laklands to the event so he was using a Fender P the school owns.

He's a couple shots of him paying at the schools art show with his 44-02:
