I'm definitely interested in the MM/P pickup config, but I placed it according to the space remaining between pickguard and bridge ... only afterwards realising the MM pickup was much closer to the bridge than in a 55-94/02.

If I was going to go for that pickup config, I think it would have to be a modified 55-02 rather than the P body shape.

Andy

well I came up with a close concepce before but nobody felt hot about it.

Think about this: the MME is a quad coil with two linear humbuckers, each devided to BEA and DG strings parts. Now, check this out. This here a MME coils scheme:
b B
e E
a A
D d
G g,
where BOLD CAPITAL is for "on", looks like a P5 (well, save for the likely difference in aperture, but we really don't know before we ask). Imagine a 94/02 with 2 MMEs, the neck one switchable for "J", "MM" or "P". Huh?

Markus has Markus Orange, and I officially claim dibs on this design!

last shot of what I'm going for (i promise):

oh, you're going to have that kind of tan? Classy! Have a mockup of yourself to see?

Now guys, I have this idea: what if I change necks between the basses? that would make a alder/maple 55 JJ-CS fretted and an ash/rosewood* 55-94 fretless, thus balancing the highs and low mids on the fretted and adding more versatility to the fretless. Some of you huys have interchanged necks, did that need any fit work?

* I think rosewood, just as I thought ebony. The wood is dense and the color deep and integral, but those tiny cracks make me think choice-grade rosewood

interesting!
Now who makes MME pups with just one row of pole pieces? Not Delano, but who?
Markus, could you please add pole pieces to that

Re: Pole Pieces: When I started to do that mock-up I tried to use this photo. But the angles were wrong, didn't work even with a lot of manipulation.

I used to have a 5502 with Nordies in it.

It sounded awesome...
