Played this through my Aguilar last nite. This bass thumps.

That looks (and I'm sure, sounds) awesome!! Congrats!

Boy Denis, you were on a roll, lol!!

I have a shaved head... does a black belt count as fancy? I had to work for years to get it, hehe. And, I definitely qualify as a Star Wars geek... got Yoda on top of my amp, a stormtrooper and Vader bobbleheads for my pedalboard... guess I need some shiny pants next huh?
you may pass. :)

Hey, I resemble a couple of those remarks..... :bassist:

a couple? I could do better ;)

Maybe other parts of the hemisphere, but
There are NO used Laklands around here. In fact, sales are languishing according to the fella that sold it to us. The 44-94 is still sitting there. But yes, it is a brand new Sky. BTW what is supposed to come with them? A box? Tools? Anything?

Back to the point. The kid wants the USA, he can save up and go buy it. Keep in mind that we tried a half dozen different Laklands and this particular JO had the best overall balance and bang for the buck. But that 44-94 was something special.

which semisphere, the southern one? ;)
I dragged 2 of my Lakies from Japan and 2 - from the US. Only the last one was "new new", all the others were preowned.
Now, simple math: I can get a used US Lakie for, say, as little as $1600 (and sometimes less). S&H to the other hemisphere (where I am) is currently $175. I could barely get a new Skyline for that kind of money in my parts.
Just saying...

the 4-94 is definitely a great thing. No other bass (including my fav, the 55-94) feels like it in the hand...
I like the JO as well, but my "primary weapon" will be the -94 series

I like what it looks like in this pic. Like a very dark deep deep deep blue, - and it becomes her too.
Maybe, just maybe, if you're not happy with the black, - you could send her to Marty and have this color. I'm okay with you naming the color "Denis Blue" :smug:

Anyone on the fence about picking up a LOG bass...go for it! I've been playing this BG5 a lot since I got it, and man...you will be so stoked to get a BG5 for yourself. This thing just KILLS!!! Go get one!!! Trust me!!

now I have this little idea... I am on the fence but can't afford it now... But I might consider trade-feeling: Nessie for a Skyline fretless 5 and the LOGbass... makes sense ?

Thanks! Man...Lakland didn't just add a string to the Glaub. They redesigned the whole bass to work killer together. I'm really impressed!

yup...killer - different than a typical P4 but "same" at teh same time - hard to explain - you need to play one to understand!

Mmmm Delicious!

So will there be more 5ers for you in the future?

I bet there are!!!

Markus must be green with envy. He's cool, he's bald, and evil, has the BG5#1, got a color named after him (well, TWO colors actually), but it is Doude who is talked about... Heck, even wives know Doude! :D

Yup _ Markus is cooler...... :)

wives know me??? cool! now I am blushing!!!

nice to be popular!!!

Yep - even my not so OCD mind is screaming paint the damn HEadstock puhlease! :hyper:

yup - mine too! and I am FAR from OCD....at least I will not admit to OCD!

LOL! Yeah...but I came up with the name Doude:cool:

thank you!

Actually...I like this one naked:D

Nah!!!! paint it!

Well, I can finally say that I have played some Laklands and they are everything they are hyped to be.

JEDIBASS invited me into his home tonight and didn't even try to murder me while I was there. He brought out his collection and let me pluck away for like 3 hours through his NV215 (where is the drool smiley??). I can definitely say the LOG bass is the bass for me. Hurry up and make it Lakland!

Seriously the 5 string necks were thick enough to not feel like a toy but still thin enough to feel fast and comfortable and to let my fingers stretch out and not cramp up. Goblin was amazing and the matching headstock is killer! If the BG5 is anything like that I will be ecstatic. His 55-94 felt incredible and even the fretless sounded pretty good with a hack like me playing it.

But far and away, Shadowfax was the cream of the crop. The Chi-sonics sounded terrifyingly terrific. The edginess and almost overdriven sound of the pickups sold me on it. Too bad there is no 5 string Skyline Decade, or Lakland may have even more of my money! I think I even managed to convince Jedi not to sell it (bad move on my part).

To sum it up, a HUGE thank you to Jedi for not murdering me and letting me play all your basses. Also, if you do decide to sell Shadowfax I will pay you $10 more than anyone else, I'll pick it up, and I'll even let you visit her sometimes ;)

glad you had fun! JJ is a GREAT guy....as for the Decade 5er SKyline...will ask tomorrow...either way there is always the 55-07 or buying a 55-02 and having Carl swap the pickups with CHIs...just saying!

I will check on the LOG bass proto tomorrow as well (If I can)

Hello gentlemen! Long time no post. I can't be on here w/o my bass it gave me too much anxiety. Now that she's home from pat with a new paint job (pics later) I can come back!

I've sent lakland some emails but they're probably too busy to respond so I'll ask you guys. What hipshot tuner with the extender would work for my 55-94?
I want to be able to tune my low string on the fly and I'm pretty sure the holes here taper so I'll need a specific one I think

wahoo! I cannot wait to see pictures!

But did he try to spoon with you?:eyebrow:

OH MY!!!! My mind does not even go there! (he has a goatee....I NEVER sppon with guys with Goatees!)

All the hype is real. Just bought a JO Skyline for my kid. Busy gig schedule this summer, maybe he'll make enough to pay me back!

Simply a great instrument. Can't recommend it enough.

If you're sitting on the fence, I'll help you. The difference between a Lakland Skyline Bass and any other bass in it's price range is like the difference between a sharpened stick and a high powered rifle.

Yes, we played a USA. Even better. MUCH better price tag, too. He's a little scared to take it on the road, somebody could just walk out with it from one of the shows.

Go ahead and do it. You. Can't. Miss.

GREAT to hear it!

Doufuss: so....is a Lakland in YOUR future as well then?

People never seem to believe it until they try one and then they are hooked!

make sure to visit Link Removed for more Lakie fun!!!

This thread is just a pointed reminder that I need to buy a 44-64. I just sold my Fender Jazz Deluxe, my DJ 4 string killed it...

Maybe I need a decade bass too.

Damn you people.

sorry....NOT!

a 44-64 would be coolio!

make sure to check out: Link Removed if you want to be tempted further!!

HA!! Shows what you know! Me and Milky (Chris) actually met and ate at the same place a few weeks ago... several VERY nice hotties there that evening!

I need to visit sometime....:hiding:

as for the Tele....I'm tellin yah......4s are OK too...

Umm... it was my italian greyhound that I offered to allow you to spoon with, should you come visit. Your Alzheimers is flaring up old man. ;)

Thanks Denis. After hearing how good Shadowfax sounds (I haven't been playing her due to the pickup hum issue... pretty much un-noticable) I'm leaving her alone and I'm gonna start playing the hound out of it!

so - all is good with Shadowfax? great!

sweet!!! nice bass!

Okay, I know there's nothing new to see here, but where else can I post pics of my steal? I got this DJ on eBay with a Lakland case for $650. POW!

But, I'm really getting the bug to buy a new one, and I'm torn between a 44-64 and a Decade...

Suggestions?

What is this 55-07 you speak of? I didn't see it on the site.

I am not opposed to different body shapes or even a pickguard if I needed to cover up the routing but I definitely want the same placement.

But this is all a pipe dream anyways, at least for a while.
