Wow. Glad you got that one. It showed up on the LOG and I was blown away by it. One of the best looking Laklands. Great color. Is it a translucent finish? Looks solid in your photo.

I have been without a Lakland for quite a while and I wasn't happy about it. The key was to find the right one for my gig and for my lineup.
Well, what could be finer than the most versatile Lakland in the lineup (IMO) -- none other than the highly-celebrated but never duplicated 55-02!

This is not my first or second '02 and I had forgotten how much I miss having one of these in my arsenal. I've said it before and I'll say it again -- If you had to have one and only 5-string bass, the 55-02 fills the bill, hands down.

I remember getting, then selling, my first 55-02.
My stable always felt like there was a place for something that just wasn't there. Luckily I grabbed a 55-02 a few weeks back and the stable now seems complete (especially with the LOG bass on the way). How does it compare tonally to Shadowfax?

She sounds quite different from Shadowfax... different scale length, different body woods, single coils vs buckers in Sfax, passive vs LH3... also the 5ers don't have the neck pup as far toward the neck due to the extra frets.

How do the B strings compare? (Did say you it was set up for BEAD didn't you?)

The 34" B is not as spectacular as Shadowfax's. I also feel that the super skinny J neck and smaller headstock lessen it's impact. That said... the B is still no slouch and I definitely AM pleased with the sound!
Ive been offered (from a store) one of their Lakland JO4s for £130 cheaper than ordering in a brand new 44-60...apparently they are all mint condition brand new...but its the UK so things are sometimes delayed here.
Not sure when Plek started, but the serials are all 2008 and they are all Korean.
Not sure whether to get one of those or spend more and get a brand new 2010 Indonesian 44-60.
Any views on this?
Do the Skylines now ship with gig bags as standard? Will this bass (an 08) have been Plek'd?
I know this is a Lakland thread, but anyone compared one to the rather nice Fender (sorry!) Roadworn Jazz (a VERY nice Jazz I must say).
Not sure when Plek started, but the serials are all 2008 and they are all Korean.
