LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #47

Hi Everyone,

I've recently bought a Skyline 44-02 - just finished setting it up yesterday. Its fantastic! One of the nicest basses i've ever played. Alot of my bassist friends in the area of commented on how nice they think the tone is, and also how lovelly the neck is to play! Im thirlled with it, just need to wait for a gig to officially break it in! I have a feeling i'm going to get on well with Laklands, as i also liked the 4 string DJ model i borrowed for a few gigs!

Just a question for all of you.
I'm aware that nearly all my posts start like that, but I'm a curious sort of chap.

Question: Whatever happened to the Lakland version of the 1951 Fender Precision?
I heard tell that the prototype was under construction and that the production model would be avaliable as a USA-spec model from September 2010. Well, it's now November and there's been not a whisper from Lakland on the website, nor even on the LOG.

What's going on? Legal issues with Fender? (Tell me something new....)

Another question that I really don't expect to hear answered here, but am I the only person in Northern Ireland with a Lakland Darryl Jones? Or indeed the only person in Northern Ireland with a Lakland?

Would be nice to know. I think I spotted a couple of people from the Republic of Ireland here on TalkBass, but nobody from north of the border!

Ah well...

Where is everybody? Why's it so damn quiet round here?

quick, everybody grab your Lakland 5ers and lets shake this place up a bit!!

I live in CA but from Ireland so I don't count.....but,

Keith Duffy of The Corrs & Boyzone is a Lakland Endorsee
Joe Doyle of The Frames and The Swell Season is playing Lakland's
Bass Player from Mundy
Paul Moore (Van Morrision) plays Lakland

There are a few more that escape me right now...

Just thought I would post some shots of my baby, "Big Red". Early version of the 55-01 bass. Had her for about 6 months and gig about 5-8 times a week with her. She's done alot of travelling, too. Awesome AND dependable axe that has become my sound! She's definitely got some bumps and scratches now, the maple board is starting to wear down to gray in some spots too. She's completely stock and my strings of choice are broken Ken Smith rock masters. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!:ninja:

Tonight (11-5-10) I played with local Asheville singer/songwriter Nikki Talley for her CD release party, an album that I played bass on earlier this year. We had a great show and I got a chance to pull out my fretless 55-01 again. The last time I really played this bass was in the studio for this album! Anyway, here is a short montage from a couple of songs...

There is ALOT of info at the LOG....look in the GTG threads....

As Markus said, they can be ordered now....I know someone got a (decent) quote recently from Mark at BassClubChicago (not me!)

it has been quiet here...everyone is over at the LOG!

NOYCE! loving the pics! isn't that CAR something? I had a BG4 in that color and have a 55-94 fretless in that color now....loving it!

welcome back! the LOG bass is a GREAT way to make a come back...did you see the (even more) limited edition pickguards that can be ordered aftermarket? if not, check out the LOG site (Link Removed) for details....they are a SWEET addition!
