.....if you do go for an SR5, grab an older one.Alright guys. What do I do. Get a lakland 55-02 (skyline cuz I cannot afford the usa, though I wish I could) or do I put in a little more cash for a 5 string musicman stringray. Both with the humbucker in the bridge, and singlecoil in neck. So which would make a more versatile instrument?
Still loving my Laklands. Been offered a lot of different basses lately, but still favor the Laklands.

Completely rewiring my frankenbass today. THe internal wiring, wich I did I was not too thrilled with.
Plus I am going back to the Bartolini NS3TMB-18. The mids are a narrower range I think. So they speak just a little better with those 2 big honkin humbuckers in my bass.
Next up, once I actually place the order, is the internal version of the Roland midi pickup.
Im a wierd dude I know. Im looking at the body and thinking of a refinish. ......
Lord help me.
May I please have a number??

Here's my 55-01, I've been playing it for the past month and I'm really loving it. Nothing fancy but it's a fabulous bass for the price and it's really a pleasure to play.

I think most people in this thread will say go for the 55-02 (that's what I'm saying anyway, I love mine).
However, something to note is that although they have a similar p'up config they are still quite different.
The Musicman will still sound like a Musicman, so you need to decide if that's the sound you want.
IMO the 55-02 is the more versatile of the two, as it is very Musicmannish as well as a great J sound and decent P sound, on top of the 55-02/94 sound which is my favourite.
However, if you can, get to a store and try out both![]()
Very cool, Branden! I checked out y'all's Myspace--lots of gigs, looks like things are going well! Rock on, man. I'll keep looking for a Chicago date.
