Denis: I never knew that! funny!

I just sold a (very old) car and the money is going towards replacing windows in the house....TRIED to talk my wife into letting me get a Lakie but nope.....I guess I gotta be happy with my collection to date (and I am!)

I think I wrote that in the Your-First-Lakie-Love post in the LOG site forum. The accent was rather on the japanese guy I bought if from though. I actually came to his house to take a look at his collection of basses with no intention OR money to buy. I was so much in love with the Shoreline 4-94 that I couldn't leave without it. Sent him the money a few days after, when I came back home and got the insurance. He gave me a good discount too!

As to your wife, she's let you have SO MANY already you can't really blame her :D

Hey, guys. Can any of you answer this? Did Lakland make Skyline DJ's that are actually white rather than the pearl color? Some of the pictures I've seen out there seems like they are olympic white, but I'm wondering if that's just the camera playing tricks on me.

Basically, I've been looking at pictures of DJ's trying to select a new pickguard color/pattern for my pearl DJ.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm torn because I thought I wanted black pearloid, but I saw one picture with a tort guard and just thought it looked great. However, the bass appeared to be white.

Yeah, the only non-Pearl ones I saw were US.

Thanks, guys. Anyone have any pearl DJ's with non-white pickguards they can post up? Looking for ideas, or for something I've not considered yet to just jump out at me.

Here's one I had a couple of years ago; not Tort but a kind of black cherry pearl. I thought it looked great, and way better than the stock white one it came with.

Here's one of my former DJ5's with a tort guard. I'm always partial toward tort... it just looks classic and cool IMO. And much like bacon, it goes with pretty much anything.

It also had a White pearloid, but I preferred the tort for the contrast.

Very cool, and thanks. I like the Tort with the maple board. With the Rosewood (which I have), I'm not so sure about it just yet.

I think it would still work with the RW neck. Since the blocks are pearloid, you still get some decent contrast, even though the fretboard is dark. I also have tort on my black DJ5 (see avatar), but that is less for the contrast factor and mostly because it just looks killer (or at least I think so).

That Black DJ5 is beautiful. I like the Tort guard on black for sure.

If the guards were only $25 or $30, I wouldn't deliberate this so much. But $50 for a guard causes me to hesitate a bit.

Got some hack recordings done with my band. Link Removed for anyone that's interested. Used my 44-02 with barts on both tracks, Ressurection is rounds with a VT bass, and Anchors Aweigh is the D.I. out of my 700rbii. Excuse the sloppy playing, and the decent at best mixxing. Bunch of newbs over here!
