congrats on the 55-01...they are awesome bassea and youa re right about the neck....I have all Lakie 5ers and the necks are really nice and fast!

Eskimo Spy.....congrats on a SWEET BG! as you said, the best P you have played! I have a US BG PJ5 and say the same...played it this morning in church and it is such a sweet bass! same coloring as yours...

I've just (belatedly) discovered this

The lakland factory did my install, and I had them put the LH3 preamp in there at the same time. They offer a passive tone option as well that I would have opted for had I known a the the time.

Looks great to me, and sounds like it would be a worthy alternative (in terms of pickup flexibility) to a 55-02.

yes and no: I won't buy another Skyline sight-unseen, but they look so damned pretty that I'll admit to being tempted -- and penniless. Once people have them in-hand and are well pleased with them, I'll likely still be penniless but a lot more tempted. If I can ever get to a GTG, I'd be interested in messing around on one.

Then one will come up for sale on the classifieds and I'll end up sleeping on the couch for a month.

I suspect that many of you are audiophiles, since you all seem to own Laklands and then stick some super high-end amps behind them, so I'm guessing you might be interested in this:

For those of you who don't know, Future Sonics are makers of probably the best in-ears money can buy. This is their cheapest model, and it's actually quite difficult to find on their site, so I just felt like giving y'all a heads-up.

Oh, and btw - now that I can spend my birthday money, I just bought these:

Your question and subsequent response is a bit unclear... How else would you load the string? The Lakland bridge is similar to a MusicMan style bridge... there's that small bit of metal folding back over so you can't see the string ends, but it loads like any other bridge when done thru-bridge (or top-loading if that's how you want to refer to it). Cheers...

I believe he was asking about a bridge like the Hipshot 'A' that has a slot and a notch for the strings so they can be loaded/removed quickly from the top without having to thread a hole.

yes, I am sure that is what he meant. I am kind of concerned, though, about the term "quickly". After all, what are you going to do with all of the 5 seconds of your life that such a bridge would add vs. the Lakland bridge. I don't get it.

So, my Skyline LE Teal Green Dot neck Glaub heads back to Chi-town tomorrow to get it's little wiring problem checked out...and to get a set of the US Vintage Hansons under the hood. I mentioned to JP how I wasn't digging the neo's during our correspondece and he offered to swap them out at no additional cost. I could not be happier and can't wait to get it back. Want to know what the best bass for metal is, btw? A Bob Glaub with neo-punch pickups! (unfortunately, I don't play metal, lol!)

Honestly, the neo's are nice, but not my thing.
