was your Shoreline a lefty as well?

I recently got this - built in 1997, NOS condition. In this pic it looks very blue, but it is teal. What can I say: it plays itself and sounds amazing. I recently also had a shoreline gold, 2010, 55-94, but sadly I could not get the action as low as I wanted it, unlike this one here that has the lowest action in the planet.

Yup! It actually almost looked good on the black,...but,..only almost. If i redo it, I may go one shade lighter on the tint, will try to post a pic of it manana.

That looks just like mine. I miss being able to use it. I think I need a new preamp in it. This makes me sad.

What's the problem with it?

It's developed some weird short in the preamp that kills amplifiers. I started getting these strange volume changes while playing, like I was cutting in and out quickly. I thought it must be the amp and took it to the shop.

At the next practice I used the drummers bass amp as the backup. As soon as I plugged in, it would turn the amp off. I could play my Fender through it. But not the Lakland. I told the amp tech that. He opened the amp up and found several scorched components on the front end. He fixed them and I've got the amp back.

But when I described this here, folks just said they'd never heard of that symptom and to change the battery.

Changing the battery didn't help. It still turns the amp off.

It looks like a major short somewhere in the preamp.

I got a US Bob Glaub. I love the bass, but somethimes when I play on the on the g string it slipps of the frettboard? Is it just me, or is it something I can do about it. I dont have this problem with my other basses. Happend to enybody else?

It happened to me on another make, a custom, and I was told to unbolt (loosen) the neck, schooch it over, and tighten it back down. It worked.

Make sure your bridge saddles are aligned properly as well.

Ooooo is that a dark red? purple? Looks like black but I can see a hint of color in there but can't tell what.

Need a pic, but if it's like Buffalo said, you should be able to fix it, unless the neck pocket's too tight.

Loosen strings and neck bolts, pull the headstock toward the E string (your head if you were standing w/ the bass strapped on) and see if all the strings shift across the fretboard toward the E side. I've also seen this used to help align pickup poles w/ strings.

I did this with my Stingray the other day w/ great results.... went from centered WELL to PERFECT :-D.

Oh, if it works, you may need a partner to hold the neck in place while you tighten the bolts. And an intonation tweak will be needed too.

Without seeing it, I'd never in a million years think that a red tort guard would look good on a red bass. That looks HOT!

Goblin was my avatar pic for a long time.... Markus mocked her up for me before I ever started putting her together. Dunn body, Aaron's Glaub neck, red tort guard, and Pat Wilkins painted the headstock too. We were, and still are proud of our creation. I'm really really happy that she'll be getting the attention she deserves.

Yeah she sure turned out awesome! Mockups sure help, but to see it in person...wow!

For the record, I *did* mention my 55-02 preamp problems, though I have to admit that mine wasn't taking out amplifiers. I back your preamp replacement idea.

I'm pretty sure you can get a great pre for that bass. I was looking at an Audere, for instance. Seems like a great match for that bass.

Deep purple; awful pic ( camera not focusing well) but you can see the color shift from black to purple right above the nut. The mint guard looks white!

Just picked up a Skyline Bob Glaub from a TB'er here in the Classifieds. Love it. Action was good straight out of the case, and can really get a variety of tones just by changing right-hand position. I have been wanting a P for a while, and this one fits the bill perfectly.
