Thanks, I really dig it. I didn't know there was a GR2? Have to look into that!

I've been trying a lot of envelope pedals and the GR just sounded "right". But you can do a lot with it.

I really dig the VT as well. I prefer a "warmer" drive and this really does it for me.

hey guys! it looks like i will be joining this group soon (if you'll have me?). I'm buying a silver Lakland 5501. I know it's not a fancy high dollar US model, but its what I've been looking for in a 5 string.

35 inch scale
Killer Low B
Bolt on Neck
Traditional Look

I've wanted one for years now, but them being built overseas has always stopped me. I have been reading on TB about how people love them and mod them and never have any trouble with them, so I've decided to take the dive!

Congrats! 55-01's are awesome basses.

And good on you for not buying into the if-it's-built-overseas-it-must-be-garbage mentality. Not only is it 100% incorrect, it is also a very close-minded, limiting philosophy. Some of the worst basses I've ever touched were made in the US (not by Lakland, of course!). I'd put a Skyline up against pretty much any US-made bass within $500.

I have been in that mentality for a while. :(

I know that US built can mean better quality, but my first was made in Indonesia and it still plays well. I bought it...8 years ago? So I think it will be alright.

I'm pretty stoked!

Congrats dude! That's the exact same bass as my first Lakland, silver 55-01 w/maple board, awesome bass. Welcome to the addiction! :bassist:

Fantastic! Full report, please (when you can put it down long enough to type it up!).

I think you will be quite please with both the looks and tone! The TW with that Rosewood is such a classic look, and Lakland has done a beautiful, updated version of it. It is one of the best looking basses I have. Pictures can't do it justice.
