Oh, I also got to once again meet fellow Lakland artist and the man who inspired me to become a bassist... Mr. George Porter Jr.

Thanks. I could easily just use my amp at most venues, including this one -- those NEO speakers push power. But sound guys still run the DI through the PA. That way the sound guy can control the balance and levels with the other instruments and the bass fills the room more since it's going through speakers on both sides of the stage. I love the rig though and the easy load-in and load-out!

After much lurking, googling, and gnashing of teeth, I just bought this from Funky Munky Music.
It's my first "real bass". I own a number of modded squires and an MIM Fender Deluxe Active jazz. I've been shopping for quite a while, saw some great deals on some used ones I should have grabbed and in the end went with what I first saw on the Lakland site a couple years ago, a Skyline 44-60. The old JO first caught my eye, especially in this color, this one is the slightly different, LTD version
It should be here early next week, I know I'm going to love it.

The '95 4-94 is so cool... such a historic piece, really! How does it sound compared to newer 4-94's or 44-02's? Any discernible differences?
First, thanks to you and everyone else for your very kind compliments.
Soloed, it seems kind of "polite", very smooth and unassuming sounding, but it sits perfectly in the mix and sounds huge recorded live.
The neck is truly amazing. Feels like the ideal P Bass neck. Just - 'right', you know?
It has a few unusual features. Metal neck plate, no battery compartment, jack on top of body, beautiful neck and body wood.

That is a thing of beauty! Man, I would LOVE to try out that model bass. But I have yet to find one in my area. Fact is I think I've only seen two Laklands in my area stores in the last few years.
