LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #50!!!

Mr. John Pirruccello and Lakland were here for our morning sales meeting. It was great meeting him as well as Frank Russell who did a clinic with Norm Stockton last night.

I mentioned to John that I had a skyline 55-60 with Chi-Sonics I was waiting on and how it was going to be a couple weeks because they were currently out of the slim single-coil pickup. He mentioned that I could get the stacked control knobs like the US model in my skyline, so now that's what's going to be installed in my bass while I'm waiting for the pickups to be finished. I'm stoked! :bassist:

Sweet! I love stacked knobs, more control--I like to back the tone on the bridge pickup down a bit to add a little more heft.

JP is an awesome guy. And so is Frank! He played at the Lakland/LOG GTG last October--killer bassist, but also a cool dude to talk to. Very humble and gracious.

Here's a clip from his performance, my interview with him (I was off-camera asking questions) might be in here somewhere.

Edit: Forgot to mention, Frank plays a Skyline (44-02), not a US Lakie. He said he came across it in Guitar Center and absolutely loves it.

FROM LOG #49: "Question on the LOG bass and Lakland P5s in general. Is the most posterior pickguard expanded or is the pup in a different location? There seems to be a lot of guard behind the p pup in pictures compared to 4's or even Chefs Lakland P5"

It is expanded on mine....compare:

HOWEVER, look at the LOG proto:

much closer to the US PJ...

"Lakies happen".......

I got the bug several years ago.....was "happy" with a P and a J....well, and a 55-02....then the LOG came along and bass porn got me hooked.....

I guess at least I do not have to minimize the screen when my wife comes in the room! (he he!)

Sigh....I've never been much of a collector and have never owned a P or J bass but you guys and those bass porn pics of those GORGEOUS Laklands are turning my GAS way up!!!!

I just got a 55-94 less than 2 weeks ago and my mouth is watering over that see thru white J

I'm in, as always. Here's a pic of my 55-02, a different one to the shot I normally post. Unfortunately my floors aren't quite as nice as Markus'

And here's a pic of me playing it when I had a mop attatched to my head:

Doude

After much lurking, googling, and gnashing of teeth, I just bought this from Funky Munky Music.

It's my first "real bass". I own a number of modded squires and an MIM Fender Deluxe Active jazz. I've been shopping for quite a while, saw some great deals on some used ones I should have grabbed and in the end went with what I first saw on the Lakland site a couple years ago, a Skyline 44-60. The old JO first caught my eye, especially in this color, this one is the slightly different, LTD version

It should be here early next week, I know I'm going to love it.
