Just kidding--congrats, Denis!Are you buying John's?
Great story.
Not many people put pickguards over the quilt top of a deluxe. I've got one on my 4 string though.

michaelmwong said:niceI think the problem with the clear is that it doesn't add any character, just takes it away. Yours adds something to the bass. Is that a Jeannie pickguard?
Hehe, nice!yep! he was tolerant enough to bear me
I'm going to add a bridge J too.
It's a beaded silver flake over white, made by Mike Quick at realgoldinc.com
....and several of you wanted to see what I had planned for the coral body

All Birdseye maple neck and fretboard (picked the board myself via pics), jazz taper w/ steel rods (no deadspots), Hipshot tuners and string retainer, BAIII bridge w/ string-thru option.
The neck is so sturdy that the bass sounds like it should be rooted into the ground... like when you push your headstock into a wall and hold it there while playing, the bass becomes part of the wall.... that make sense??
I'm very happy with it!
OK guys . . . don't hate me for this . . .
I have had my new Lakland Skyline CS (blocks and binding) 55-60 (Sunburst/maple) for going on two months now, and I haven't fallen in love with it yet - as all of you have done with your Laklands!
I am a Fender man - only Fender guitars and basses - and was wanting a Fender American (Deluxe or Standard) V string - TSB/maple - but Fender didn't offer that combination! So, after about four months of reading online about the Laklands, I decided to go for it, sight unseen, as I thought it would be close to the Fender Jazz sound - the looks were there!
OK, I love the looks of the 55-50, the detail, the extremely low action, but I am not crazy about the sound - too modern for me! So, I have the following options:
1. Do nothing, let the modern sound grow on me,
2. Swap pickups (maybe Fender SCNs???) - will they fit??, or Fralins, or Nords, etc.,
3. Sell it and hardshell case at a few $$$ loss - maybe around $1200, or???
I know what you would do, what do you think I should do?
Vince, If you like how it plays n feels, try changing the pu's. I love Fralin's, but that's all just preference. I've heard the Hanson's are a bit more modern. Probably just not your flavor.
Aeros are my favourites in the DJ.
So I might end up with a Aero JJ DJ and a Nordie PJ DJ![]()
Here's my Lakie today. I was recording with the famous Metropole Orchestra!![]()

I really liked that Glockenklang The Passenger combo, by the way. Very nice and clear sound. Much better than the Hartke VX410 I rehearsed on tonight. Man, what a crappy sound does that thing have.
absolutely gorgeous! you're my hero, Jody
only, I would use a different body color, but that's only taste
Thought my fellow Laklanders might enjoy checking out my setup from last night's gig at the French Broad Brewery here in Asheville. For those who are curious about the gig-in-a-brewery thing, Asheville is a huge microbrew capital, and most all of the breweries have tasting rooms in them that have, over the years, developed into solid music venues in and of themselves. They pay better than most club gigs around here, and have great draws and a built-in crowd that listens. This particular brewery venue has a great sound, and most of my main band's last live/studio CD was recorded here. Anyway, here's my 44-02D, 20+ year-old SWR Goliath I (with transition grille), and Eden WTX500. There's also a VT Bass and ART Tube MP thrown in there as well.

Thanks! The coral is striking in person, hard to capture w/ pics. Many people say it's their favorite in my collection, even over my sparkly 'Ray.
I should add that w/ the camera flash, many pics show the bass as pink. But, in reality and in certain light the bass has a hue similar to the flesh of a ripe cantaloupe. Very rich!

go go tetsyua!!
Emailed Lakland a couple of days ago about getting one. Is this normally how people go about ordering one of these?
Have got a couple responses. Service seems good. Just going through all the general talking at the moment. Can't wait.
(I think I'm going to end up with an exact copy of Markus's token orange bass.. can't help myself. :O)
Just got my 55-02 and love everything about it!

anybody know if the necks on the 44-60's and 44-64's can be swapped?
Hey Trevor, I'm 99% sure they can be. The Duck Dunn, after all, is a 44-64 body and a 44-60 neck.
