:-D someone with a Tetsuya! very nice...is it as pink as I think it is (it seems more subdued in the pic)...Does it sound any different compared to a maple 55-94?

Really luvin those side dots...

i think my pictures represent the color pretty accurately.
the one on the lakland site seems a bit more purple-like.
it looks amazing in real life anyhow.

i used to own a 55-02 with a maple neck and lakland electronics.
the 55-69 has a more aggressive edge whereas i felt the lakland electronics felt smoother and polite.
the sound difference is quite definite rather than a subtle difference between the 2 IMO.

Help me with my tone dilemma......
my main axe for many years has been my ash/maple 5594 with LH3. Recently I acquired a Lull MV5 ash maple, with Fralin hum cancelling pickups and Bart pre. I have fallen in love with the tone of this bass, but still favor the ergonomics and feel of my 5594. Should I mod my 5594 with Chi sonics or single coil jazz style pickups to get closer to my tone desires? I have also considered picking up a 5501 and modding with big singles as a test before modding my beloved 5594. What would you do?

Hi Keith, how have you been?
I understand you completely. I personally have been trying to like humbuckers but keep trying to dial jazz tones out of them. I guess the jazz sound is so embedded in my subconsciousness that I think every bass should sound like that.
I would consider a trade. As mentioned before Doug has a double J that would fit the bill.
As I recall you have two 55-94s, correct? That sonic blue one is gorgeous. You would still have the other one then in case you change your mind. :)
Modding a 55-94 back to a J would be kind of ugly I think. Unless you can get a single coil pickup in an MM casing...
Another option is to get one of the new US 55-AJs. They should have the same sweet Lakland neck.
Hope this helps.

He he!!!

I ACTUALLY beat Markus for ONCE! :D

I think it has to do with the mulit-post though......nice to see a good dispersion of posts.....:)

Markus has been underworking his part and Greg now probably has a better job with more free time. Sharing the office with Jody

edit: hey, we could have sub-clubs like 'the one-posters', the two-posters' etc, since many have laconically chimed in just a few times.

NICE!

looks great!

The LOG bass can do punk rock!!

magic is right!

congrats.....nice bass! I see a little MOJO on the case.....any idea what happened? must have been pretty powerful...those cases are pretty tough.

I have an addition to the family. I have been a devout Skyline user ever since I bought my 55-01 in 2002. With that being said, this 4-94 is amazing. Everyone said that the necks are magic. They're right.

I think Greg's got a good idea....:ninja::hiding:

I actually THOUGHT about putting CHIs in it myself.....

I would be hesitant to cut into a beloved bass--as I assume you'd have to do to put the bridge J pickup in (and would definitely have to do with Chis). How about buying a "dual J", a US Lakland with the body and neck of the 55-94 but with jazz pickups already installed? They're rare, mind you. But my good friend has one for sale and it's a beauty. (I've played it.) It also has a pre-routed cavity so you can pop in a pre. Scroll through the thread to see the dropped price.

anyone know the ballpark cost for a ebony fretless neck with a matching headstock (for my inca silver skyline)?

Yea it's served me pretty well thus far (though it's been primarily fretless for the last month or so, have it strung up with fender 7120s black tapes (the ones they don't make anymore)...made an already interesting sound even more interesting, and is effortless to play!
