No, it's me being sideswiped again by the evil iPhone autocorrect feature. Sigh... Stupid phone.

DON'T YOU MEAN stupid i-PHONE?????

As soon as I saw that I instantly knew it was an iphone thing.

lol!! one of the reasons I got a pull out keyboard on my phone!!! touchscreen just "ain't my thang!"

Just sharing an action shot.

thanks for the action shot...post more of them in the performance thread at: Link Removed

love the teal!!!

."Lakland's custom shop"

so WHY does this make me chuckle???? OH yeah! because Lakland does not "need" a "custom shop"....as far as a US model is concerned, you can get any (reasonable) configuration you want....just pick and chose the various componets and colors and - walla! "YOUR bass sir!"

you are correct that they recently became more "open" to more options.....

well if they would it might almost be worth rolling 3 basses to buy it...truly one to keep till they dig the hole and plant me. :hiding:

well...I "THOUGHT" you were done......BUT if it means selling more of those "no name basses"? I say go for it!

I had to sell my skyline 55-02 to help fund my usa lakland.
Although the wait was painful, i feel like i have my dream bass!
I spent the first day just looking at it and really played it properly the next day haha

yup....I KNOW the feeling,.......my latest had me doing the EXACT same thing! problem is...I have been working at home almost full time recently (due to my wife being "out of commission") and my office is where all of my Lakies are hung ...they keep calling..."Play me...plaaaaayyyy meeee"

Is there any sound clips of a lakland with an ebony fretted board?

not that I know of.....I have no recording interface otherwise I would record something (badly played) for you....what I can tell you is that the ebony gives a nice kinda "edgy" tone....different from any other wood....not sure how else to describe it.....

Are you saying that visual things don't matter?

Markus, JJ is a GUY.....visual ALWAYS matters! sheeesh!!!:rollno:

He explained why he wants unlined... makes sense now :-). Same reason I sometimes play in total darkness..... while sobbing.... in the nude.

Just kidding lol. But I do like playing in total darkness.

OH wow....TMI!!! TMI!!!!

makes me sad JJ......really sad.....

do you also make love in the .....oh never mind!

hahah very cool, just looking at it..
Yes that is what I am thinking ...building a dream bass..
at the expense of 3 other basses being rolled.
Sure one might end up in Gary's Museum :) LMAO :hiding:

AT LEAST one...JUST do NOT make him sell a Lakie to buy one of those "other basses"....he he...

At least no has said Howard Stern.

that is what i thought...:hiding: Just did not want to mention it...... :D

Damn man, too much information!
I just did not read that......hahahah!
LMAO!:eyebrow:

what Dan said....

amen to that brotha Markus. LOL
I would be homeless as well.
Or snapping pics of Reeeeeally Scary women.
OUCH! :crying::help:

sounds like your client today was MUCH better than a homless lady.....hmmmm???? care to share?

Well, the HB is on it's way back to the east coast... (sniff)

Now, I just gotta figure out what to get next? I need another 5-string (as my girlfriend would say, "like you need a hole in your head"). I've already got a JO5 and a 55-01, so...???

55-02.....5 er Decade....5 JJ.....55-07...55AJ????

A 55-64 of course!:-)

maybe...

Dan, go for it, my friend. There's nothing quite like getting a dream bass just the way you want it, if you spec it right and make sure you know what you want first.

And I would say go for that Ferrari red, you'll be happier with your ideal color. I don't know if there is even an upcharge for a custom color like that--but if there is, I doubt it would be significant relative to the total cost of the bass. What Leo has told me is that Pat W. prefers to have a color code to work with (if it's not on the list of colors on his site), to make sure it matches what you want. But he can do just about anything.:)

find the color code for the red you want.....he can macth it easier..Carl says ANY car color is an easy match for them!

+1! Passive, of course.:D

uh....NOT necessarily!!! and actice 55-76 might be cool..

both feet.....:ninja:

yup...but don't bother...that is a "keeper"....

SURE they can......they can do "almost" anything....almost....

but you do not need 2 44-07s...what is the point? go for something else...55-94 maybe???? I really think you would like the variability....

NICE! Both feet out the door is a good thing:hyper::hyper::hyper:

Yea sure it is a keeper, sure is nice....killer finish on it.

I dunno? Guessing will hold off awhile and regain a bit of needed sanity. Then decide from there.
No can do 55's man...one string more than I need.:ninja:

Yeah, I prefer priority shipping, and the oversized hard case for the HB put me at $75 to send it cross-country.

ouch...just sent a "bass" out today....cost me $45...most expensive in some time....shipped it FEDEX...one wierd thing was the guy said he "had to open the box" to verify that i had it packed OK since I was insuring it for a good amount...NEVER had that happen before....I made sure to watch him tape it back up again....

I've actually been finding that FedEx Home Delivery (they're equivalent of UPS Ground) is less expensive than UPS or USPS Priority and that's with the insurance.

I agree.......ALWAYS Fedex....

Yeah..I use Fed Ex Home Delivery. I like it way more. They take better care of the packages IMHO too.

yupper...they do.....

Anyone know of any examples of 4-94's with B&B necks? Specifically maple with pearl blocks and white binding? Thanks!

well...there was a Markus Orange quilt top for sale in the classifieds a short while ago.....RW board though...UBER hot! B&B 4-94? HOT HOT HOT....

I've felt for some time that the only people making any money in this whole swap/sell GAS-othon are the shippers.

LOL!!!! I think yo are right....certainly NOT those selling basses...BEWARE Gary! I think more MMs may be on the lose...stay focussed...stay focussed... (from one fried to another)....

My incoming DJ5 is currently on a nearly 9000 mile FedEx Odyssey...

WOWSA!!!! you could not find one in the states?????? how long!?

Well...USPS...how can you trust the government to do anything right:rollno:

I agree...B+NEVER send anything of great value USPS....I have sent things USPS with a certified tracking number and they were not trackable!!! NO ONE knew wher ethey were...

UPS delivered the last three items coming to me to the wrong place despite the address being right. When I finally got one of them to my house the guitar inside had been removed and only the empty case remained. I will never deal with UPS again. FedEx is way cheaper and generally more reliable.

OUCH!!!! what did you do????

YIKES!!!!????
My god man.
Sounds like you need hire an army of carrier Pigeons to fly your gear to and fro....dayummm.

Fed Ex cheaper huh?
I have 2 basses and one guitar shipping out to buyers today.
Was going to use UPS as always.
Hub is close to my house.
Fed Ex is a bit of a haul.
But now ya have me thinking? :eyebrow:

I told you today....FEDEX man...the ONLY way!

Thanks Greg!
I honestly do not know what a "dream bass" might be?
I mean maybe designing a body style..a headstock...some exotic crazy woods...who knows?
But as far as building a cool one off US Lakland goes?
I can see it at some point.
Just need time to think and like what? $3,500 - $3,800? hahaha!! :eyebrow: yowza.

OH

AT LEAST one...JUST do NOT make him sell a Lakie to buy one of those "other basses"....he he...

find the color code for the red you want.....he can macth it easier..Carl says ANY car color is an easy match for them!

"other basses" ....hahaha!! ei yi yi :rollno:

Huh? So try to ask a paint code for a Ferrari red? Like maybe a Body shop supplier? Or a Ferrari Dealership bodyshop?
Should not be all that difficult to find.

Don't forget Paypal! Definitely the two biggest sort-of hidden costs of GAS, along with time spent posting ads, PM'ing and packing/shipping/receiving the stuff. I sold three basses early last year, and shake my head at how much time it ate up. I've got one to offfload now, then I'm hoping to settle in.:)

ETA: The whole deal reminds me of investing--the more you trade, the more the costs add up.

good point Greg.....Paypal and Ebay fees...gotta love em both!!!

you WOULD make the alst comment now, wouldn't you mr investor consultant type!!!

Transaction costs do take a toll, don't they?
especially at the geometric mean rate that some of us (self-included) are making transactions these days.

they SURE do....yup...you ahve been on an unusual roll lately Gary...slow down and smell the swamp ash!!! sheesh!

Well don't know if anyone remembers but a while back I was having some problems with the bridge pickup. Due to an absolutely hectic schedule and doing a LOT of writing, I just wasn't able to see about having it fixed.

I contacted Lakland and was told that, while they would certainly put in another humbucker if I wanted, this particular person felt that the singles would be the best option, for both sound and reliability. And I was REALLY impressed with that kind of honesty.

So, I took the plunge :)

EDIT: Oh, and I'd absolutely be interested in getting in on the 2nd LOG CD. I'll let you know when I finish the track, and may have a few more as well.

gottcha.....and THANKS!

details soon to be coming on the LOG...we want to get LOG2 out soon!

He he he!

An USPS delivers my mail all over the place....like client checks:eyebrow: I'm bringing home the bacon for my whole block:rollno:

....and remmeber our text convo last night? our taxes are as well!

+1, finally getting the brood to be what I need. And also moving to a town in the not too distant future where the nearest music store will be 80 miles away.

moving huh???? good luck with that....last time I moved was 1999...hopefully wont have to move any time soon again!

Oh I can buy black F------rs or I----zs all day long, if that was what I was into, which definitely it is not.

So I pay the shipping cabal out the nose just like the rest of you.

LOL!!! I agree....so we pay to play....and pay some more!!

heh.. imagine how much i had to pay for shipping and customs for my USA lakland coming to New Zealand.. :bawl:

OUCH!!! that had to hurt.....

Update on USPS shipping: they max size at 108 in (length plus 2xwidth and 2xdepth) so 52+2(21)+2(9)=112 in. which means the bass is off to fedex. Grr. :rollno:

hmmm???? odd......I think you will like FEDEX better anyways!

ouch...just sent a "bass" out today....cost me $45...most expensive in some time....shipped it FEDEX...one wierd thing was the guy said he "had to open the box" to verify that i had it packed OK since I was insuring it for a good amount...NEVER had that happen before....I made sure to watch him tape it back up again....

I told you today....FEDEX man...the ONLY way!

Hope he taped it well :hiding:

oh man..." I think more MM's my be on the loose" HAHAHAH!!
Doude yer killin me...too funny. :p

yeah I hear all this FEDEX praise loud and clear...
It might be time to look into getting an account? :hmm:

Whoever you talked to didn't know what they were talking about. The max 108 should be width and girth not 2X any measurement. I have sent plenty of things roundabout the size you just listed.

well then I am in SERIOUS trouble if you try to send me....girthwise....I mean...:D

Should be a done deal...sending him an invoice for the additional $75...once paid...off she goes to Tok, Alaska on a wing and a prayer.
Snail mail parcel post from New yawk to Alaska is preeettty sketchy at best...but???
Hope it makes it, sure is a beautiful BC Rich Bich.

don't you mean "Toque (aka "tuke")" Alaska???

Looks like I just scored a 44-60 from a friend locally. I don't really play 4 strings anymore,...but I couldn't pass up this deal! He's dropping it off to me on Wednesday, will take it to the gig Thursday night along with my DJ5. Gorgeous instrument, not sure on the year, lakie pups, and really clean condition.

I'd tell you guys the sale price,..but I'm afraid someone might put a hit contract out on me. I'll just say that if i had been feeling really thrifty, I could have spent 100 less and got a Squier VM 77 instead. :hiding: Let me just say that it absolutely rocks to have good friends, indebted to ya Tim!!!! Will try to return the favor one day.

Here's a pic from his FB page, will get some proper shots up when it's actually in my possession.

44-60.jpg

sounds like a "no can pass up price" man!!!! sometimes you wonder WHY people sell so low and other times...you just take advantage of the situation...nice score!!!

5-string players crack me up. Now Voodoo, you're a good little LOGGER, so don't get pxssed at me for pointing out your "superiority" complex, but don't you think every 5-string player also plays 4 strings?

I assume this is in jest Gary......:smug:

As we discussed (and as I recently found out)....It is relatively hard for me to play only 4 bangers now....I miss those B string notes and the easy at which i can do runs etc...

Depends on what you mean by that. When I'm playing my basses, of course I'm playing four strings as well as the fifth. But then, I'm also playing *three* strings, right?

If you mean that all 5ver players can also just ship out a 4-banger and wail, then that's not true of all of us. I've already mentioned too often how I switched to 5 so I could ignore the first 5 frets without losing the notes down there, so switching to 4 would require re-thinking the fretboard. No superiority anything--just simple fact.

wow J....we agree again!!! yahoo....I KNEW I liked you...:)

Are you kidding or do you not realize how offensive your "superiority complex" and rolleyes emoticon are to 5 string players?

I've tried to make 4s work multiple times, The most significant benefit of a 5 string (something that can make certain basslines easier to play than on a 4) is the shorter stretches and less shifting needed by using the B above the 5th fret for runs/lines that are played using the 4's E and lower frets.

And I'm still planning on building a 3 string someday.

I think he was jesting JJ....but I agree with what I have left in your quote...I find 5ers just "easier to play"...

a 3 banger huh???? which 3 and why???

I guess I was just a bit sensitive last night, sorry if I sounded full of myself.. I plead temporary insanity...back to our regular programming.

nah...I took it in jest....

I ordered new saddle assemblies from Brian, hopefully they will be here before my gig Friday, I hope I can get it set up in time if they do get here.

yahoo! here is hoping!!!

Yep bad influence fir sure:eyebrow:
And P.S. ya sound like a Nike commercial bro..(times three) .hahaha!! :hiding:

oh well...sorry...copy right infringement....

OK OK....44-94 then....in your color...

"other basses" ....hahaha!! ei yi yi :rollno:

Huh? So try to ask a paint code for a Ferrari red? Like maybe a Body shop supplier? Or a Ferrari Dealership bodyshop?
Should not be all that difficult to find.

Just go on line and google baby google...(ferrari paint codes)easiest way!

Man, that was a good Dude wave, think I need to go have a smoke now! :)

LOL!!! not done yet....well...NOW I am...

Hope he taped it well :hiding:

oh man..." I think more MM's my be on the loose" HAHAHAH!!
Doude yer killin me...too funny. :p

yeah I hear all this FEDEX praise loud and clear...
It might be time to look into getting an account? :hmm:

yup...look into it...

Doude, I think you still owe me a listen. Please?

I know I know....just been CRAZY around here with my wife out of commission and trying to work in between taking care of her and my daughter...I will...I will...

BTW - what were you on when you wrote the lyrics????

No worries, I shall be the patient grasshopper whilst you take care of the clan.

The scary part, nothing - I don't even imbibe.

Dayummm Doug, are your fingers smoking? lol...serious typing going on over there man...pheeew.

All I know is I need a smoke now, too!

UPDATE - and a question... So I pulled the trigger on Zoober's 55-02 :hyper: Looking forward to doing some side-by-side comparos between the three 5-string Lakies; 55-01, 55-02, and the JO5... Anyone here interested?

Oh, does anyone else have both an 01 and 02? If so, what are your thoughts/likes/impressions???
