It was a true "F" Bass. The sound was nice, but the ergonomics and shape was horrible. I'm just very critical of the basses that I play.

Anything specific you didn't like about the feel? F bass has been on my GAS list for years but I've never tried one.

Biggest name in Canadian boutique bass makers. I don't really like them either, but I just figured it was because I'm not a jazz cat. I loathe the aesthetics. Aaand I find the sound is too polite for me, generally.

PS: I'd take an Aston Martin over a Ferrari *or* a Lamborghini any day.

Pretty hard to find an F Bass that doesn't feel like picking up a piece of pure magic. If i could bet past the looks, i might have pit an F in my bucket list.

Maybe the setups weren't spot on?

Yeah, I've played an F and other than it's looks, it was comparable to my favorite Laklands.

Hey laklanders, if I wanted to add a VTC to my 4-94 that is usable in both active and passive modes, what type of pot would need to be added? I'm pretty clueless about this stuff, so I would have a tech do it for me. I just want to have as much info as possible before I take the plunge.

My 44-07 Mai Tai has the optional Passive Tone Control knob. It functions in both Passive and Active modes.

I've yet to open the electrics cavity. However, I don't mind looking into this for you. Inquiring minds want to know. lol

OK, I'll preface this with I do not necessarily want to dismantle this 44-07 in efforts to read the values of all components. I have asked for a wiring diagram from the fellow LOG members on a few occasions and have yet to see what additional components are required for this control. I'm sure someone at LaklandHQ/Carl P. with bass Doctor would know the details.

The Pot itself appears to be a 250k variety. However there are a few piggyback resistors and capacitor components strapped onto this Pot as well as the Volume knob as shown in the close-up below.

I would like to lean more about this optional component/installation.

My new Glaub CS arrived. The pickup is single coil and sounds super growly vs. the punchy Pbass sound. I put some medium Fender flats on it, which sound perfect with the pickup. Taking this out on tour tomorrow.

Hey guys. New Lakland owner here! I was just wondering if I could get some quick pointers. I have 3 more weddings to do this weekend after last nights, and I thought you guys could help.

I own a new 55-02, and I'd love for some good settings you guys might use on the bass. I'm used to a simple jazz bass, so let me know how you tame this beast! We had a room turnover last night and a sound check wasnt an option. I play through a Hartke Hydrive 410 and an LH1000 head set flat. The bass was sounding pretty hollow and clanky, sometimes grindy. Any advice to get some real punch? The bass was set mostly flat as well just because I had no time for a sound check. Thanks guys!

My amps are pretty flat as well and I get a great sound as follows: I prefer to have the bass and treble knobs full up and the mids slightly boosted if at all. My blend is usually slightly rolled towards the neck. I use the coil tap as the song needs, I prefer the sound of the north coil and humbucker only. The south coil is nice too but not as deep and throaty. I love a deep throaty sound, I use very little in the way of mid boost. If I need P-Bass, I roll of the treble to about 1/2 boost and roll the blend all the way to the neck and IMO it nails the P sound. If you need a mid-flavored sound roll blend towards the bridge/humbucker, This is a really versatile bass, two minutes before a set should be all you need to get a sweet aural-gasm.

Haha thanks man. All I remember is it sounded awesome through the same amp set up in the store. I just wasn't able to get a good check yesterday.
