Thanks all! How can you resist a pickup named "Thunderbucker?". I'll get soundclips posted eventually. Essentially though, I have the bridge coil of each pickup in the 70s Jazz locations. So, it is sort of like a 70s Jazz with humbuckers and more low end. Surprisingly, this placement isn't too far off from tbird positions, especially given that Gibson has moved the pickups around quite a bit over the years.

(Note the gratuitous use of the multipost feature!)

Glad I was able to help yet again :smug:

And since I haven't posted this pic in this thread...

That's so freaking cool... do you have clips of it anywhere?

On a completely different note, has anyone tried tapewounds on their 4/55-94's? I'm in the mood for something different. I have EB Cobalts on now and they're pretty cool. I've been tempted to throw my set of Chromes on there, but they're staying on my POS passive SX 5 string I think. I heard the fender tapes are pretty round-wound-y but with less zing and finger noise, but not quite flatwound thumpy. Any experience with this? :help:

Click on the people's names. On the bar that gives you the options to quote and so on, tap the white square to the extreme left. Rinse and repeat for all your multiquotes, then tap the reply button in the top right.

Ahhh it's the reply button that I didn't try. I had tried a variant of the PC method: clicking the box then "quoting" the last person's post.... didn't work obviously. Assumed it wasn't an option.

Thanks

I've had them on various Laklands. I like them but my mind kept telling me they sounded plasticy:-) They do sound good! Lest string noise but still nice top end!

Ha! No...try em! 17 bucks...can't go wrong! They are nice...now I want to try them again!:-)

True story... gotta love string GAS, the cheapest of all GAS. :D

I had the labella nylon tape wounds on my bongo for a while. They were plastic, so that would be appropriate for those.

Of course! What did you think of the sound/feel. How were they for slapping? I'm not looking for super 'old school' tone really, but I want some thump and depth with a decent high end.
