That's so freaking cool... do you have clips of it anywhere?
On a completely different note, has anyone tried tapewounds on their 4/55-94's? I'm in the mood for something different. I have EB Cobalts on now and they're pretty cool. I've been tempted to throw my set of Chromes on there, but they're staying on my POS passive SX 5 string I think. I heard the fender tapes are pretty round-wound-y but with less zing and finger noise, but not quite flatwound thumpy. Any experience with this?![]()
I've had them on various Laklands. I like them but my mind kept telling me they sounded plasticyThey do sound good! Lest string noise but still nice top end!
Ha! No...try em! 17 bucks...can't go wrong! They are nice...now I want to try them again!![]()
I had the labella nylon tape wounds on my bongo for a while. They were plastic, so that would be appropriate for those.
natw42 said:True story... gotta love string GAS, the cheapest of all GAS.
Of course! What did you think of the sound/feel. How were they for slapping? I'm not looking for super 'old school' tone really, but I want some thump and depth with a decent high end.
No kidding! I'm the worst with strings! Yeah...those will get you there.

Which tapes have you used before? I'm considering the fender 9120s specifically because they're a nylon wrapped roundwound.
