Well guys, I think I may have my eyes on the Lakland in the classifieds. Ice Blue JO4 w/ Chi's. I had, no joke, emailed Brian @ Lakland this morning to spec out the exact bass, although with a Rosewood FB this morning. Being that I'm generally a Rosewood guy for fingerboards, would it still be able to get warm with a set of flats on it? (Not trying to start any wood debate, just looking for honest opinions!)

Now just to convince mom to let me buy it! It'd be nice to be able to come to the LOG gtg in OCT with a Lakland in hand LOL
Somehow I've never noticed that the tuning is reversed on the detainer. I need to look,at it tomorrow as I don't know how I could have missed that before. I had assumed it was installed at the factory.
Brooks, I'm the one who sold the bass to Small Equestrian. I owned it for about 2 years, it's a great bass! (I just don't get along with jazz basses.) It was originally ordered by Royce H, a LOGer who lives in Texas, then owned by two other LOGers before me (including Terry/buffordbass, who churned through a lot of basses). It can definitely get warm with flats, Markus is right on about the tone of the Chis. Put some steels on and it can get pretty aggressive-sounding, too.
Gordon is right about the tuning machines. It was that way when I got it, but it never bothered me.
Small Eq and I have done business before, I bought a bass from him a few years ago. I've also seen his band play, that JO sounds awesome in a mix. He's a great TBer, buy with confidence!

they have 55-94 buckeye-burl/maple that looks sooooo unbelievable good

i didn't know lakland was also using tops like that. has anyone seen a lakland jazz bass with a rare wood top? i never did, but i really would like too
oh btw i habe a lakland skyline 55-02 deluxe, great bass! maybe will buy a lakland skyline 55-60 or a skyline 55-AJ...
has anyone played a skyline 55-AJ?
i haven't, but will in a couple of weeks. have to decide between a skyline 55-Aj and one of the new fender american deluxe jazz basses?
which one would you pick?

Well, I swapped my 55-02D with Macribas for his Duck Dunn and I am LOVING it. The Duck is the most comfortable and best sounding P that I have ever had. I just have never been able to bond with 5'ers. Now all I need is a Jazz...
Don't trust the pictured inventory...I purchased my 55-94 in March of 2011 and it's still listed as available

those are really cool tops! under JP and Bo theya re doing some really nice tops.
the US AJs have sweet tops....you can do pretty much any wood you want (and that they can find)....
I have not played but listened to a US AJ-5 last summer at the factory...really sweet!
I htink you know which one I will tell you to buy.....
The Lakland is 100% better bass...IMHO and the opinions of many here....

glad it worked out though....so Marcel? what is going to happen with the 55-02D? i thought you had too many of the "same or similar" basses....???
hmmm....can I recommend a J bass brand for you to try?
of course...can you have "too many" DJs??? is that posible for you?
PM TomP on here or on the LOG site....he has one....and likes it alot.
dunno why....I fell into that when I was first looking at Laklands...they had long-gone colors listed....maybe a way to create phone and email traffic? who knows.
