Lakland Owners Group #58

in my opinion the 2 Laklands will have the neck shape most similar to your 55-02 and if in the past you have always ended up disliking your jazz basses i would stay away from them as no need to keep repeating the thing over and over. i love my Lakland 55-02, if for some reason a 5 string became less than ideal, i would look at a 44-02 first. again just my opinion.

Peace
Dave

Peavey Cirrus basses are spectacular (I've owned 2 6ers) but the look is a turnoff. Sorry you aren't a maple fan since a cherryburst w/ maple is sexier than heck! So, it's gotta be the 44-02 w/ RW board.

Enjoy

I agree with your take on the Cirrus! I like the Cherryburst alot, looks like fire. I'm not a big fan of the fancy colored tops, not that there's anything wrong w/them, I just prefer something more simpler, like my play style, lol.
Yes, I chose the 44-02 w/RW board. Unfortunately the owner hasn't pm'd me back and some other offers are getting antsy. Which is making me anxious to get this done.
So I might have to choose again, UGH!

Guys,(and girls) I had such a hard time deciding on a trade for my 55-02D Trans quilt rw. I want a 4 banger instead. So I had to choose from:

1) One of two JO's, either with an Audere preamp installed.
2) '08 Fender P-Bass w/basslines, (Great year, a collectable someday IMO)
3) Peavey Cirrus, redwood top.
4) Lakland 44-02 Standard Trans RW FB.
5) Fender Road Worn Jazz. Sunburst, RW FB
6) Lakland 44-02D Cherryburst / Maple FB
And a few others with Maple boards.

Only two were offering some extra cash w/the deal. Believe that? I would think they all needed cash IMO, except #6.
Well I dislike the look of a Maple board unless it's BnB. So the Maple ones were out. Since I've fell in love with the tone of the 55-02 and the LH3 and I also Love a good P-bass tone.
I so wanted a Jazz bass, but everytime I get one, I just begin to dislike it for some reason or another. I dunno why. But I heard the Road Worn on a German You Tube and just loved the tone. The JO with an Audere is a really good deal.
I just confirmed with the winning TB'r and am waiting on his reply...
Can you guess which one I chose??

I am assuming you chose one of the Laklands, or you wouldn't dare post this in this thread. :)
Having said that, I think you chose the rosewood board 44-02, as you want to like jazz basses but can't get to, and you are in love with the LH-3 system.
EDIT: Just now read your other post which confirmed my guess. Sorry for being late.

coolio! I was going to vote the 44-02 deluxe until I read this....and YES either should send you a few bills....

have fun with the 44-02!

Dang dudes, I had to dig to find this thread? Everyone must be busy playing their Laklands, rather than just talking about them. Of course I kid. I love talking shop too.

Well, I hooked up with Leo via Summer NAMM. Ended up with a fancy new USA JO. Sonic Blue with a tort guard. It's actually my first ever Lakland J bass. Pretty stoked on this thing. The neck is amazing. Pics soon.

You with a J? Okay, now you're just messin' with us...

I'll admit that lately I've been gigging my brilliant new spalty Sadowsky exclusively. I don't know how long it's going to take for the honeymoon to wear off, but I think that you guys who get the US Laklands probably get the same feeling.

Heh, you're undoubtedly spending more time playing than most of is. I wish I could play in the office, but I have to fill my lunch time surfing TB instead.

Congrats on the JO, there are pictures of that one at the NAMM display on the LOG board--looks great! I saw you sporting a Fender J (Geddy or similar) in that one commercial where you guys are sitting on a tour bus. So it's only right that you pick up a Lakland J bass.;)
