Because TB is full of maniacal gear flippers who will never, ever be completely happy with what they have as long as the next shiny object is out there.

Oops, did I say that out loud?:hiding:

well....I am having "second thoughts"....although I absolutely LOVE my active basses and the fancy tops etc...when I think about what we play outside of church, I seem to drift towards my LOG bass or my BGPJ5...as such, having another P in the family may be a good idea...

I will still use the other basses with some regularity in church...whenever we play out, though I KNOW I will have at least one P bass...

We have a gig coming up in a couple of weeks and i am thinking of:

5507
LOG bass
Turner Ren 5 fretless
doubtful nut maybe: MK Dragonfly acoustic

somehting would have to go though and I am not sure WHAT that could be.....argh! GAS stinks !

Me too!

a beauty Matt! a beauty!

Then I am in the RIGHT PLACE.

Saaaaaadddd........
But?
TRUE ;)

:bassist:

"Hello...My name is <INSERT NAME HERE> and I flip basses too often....although it is "usually" for a reason, although the reason is typically made up afterwards in order to justify the flip....lfe goes on and I will continue to flip basses...STOP ME before I flip again!"

(too close to home for some???? I include myself in that group for sure!)

Fair enough. For me, I can't seem to keep a bass longer than 8 to 10 years or so. I always thought that I was being fickle.

Then I discovered TalkBass.

LOL J!!! you flipper you!

I had ONE...count them..ONE bass for 20+ years...and then I got on the DudePit and TB...you guys and gals are dangerous I tell ya...dangerous!

I just got to my hotel in Norway...I wish I would have brought one of my Lakies...somebody superimpose a Lakie into this pic from the window of my hotel...

Texan...GREAT view! hope you are enjoying the trip! Brian is doing some cool things with your pics at the LOG site!

woud enjoy a travelog type sumamry either during or after - pictures required of course!

Very true. Last time I was here I did not make it to this monument, its really the only thing that I wanted to see. I booked my flight a day early just be sure that I had time to see it. This is a truly breath taking country. Sverd I Fjell was the best part of the trip, and I'm only two days into it. It's all business and sand dunes from here on out.

Funny story, I had to take a bus to get to Sverd I Fjell and then walk along Hafrsfjord for about 1.5km to get to the monument. Along the rocky shore there was what I thought was a lingere shoot in progress. Naturally, I stop to admire the local landscape for a bit and the after a few minutes...well lets just say that they think nothing of nudity here. :D and as luck would have it, my camera died so I only got PG-13 shots :crying:

I did go to a local music shop yesterday and the owner was fascinated that I had Laklands. He asked for an honest opinion on how they compare to Fenders and wanted to know if the hype was really true. I told him that to me, a Fender was like a Chevy, it will get you where you are going and is pretty nice. But the Laklands are like an Aston Martin, fast, well refined, elegant, will do everything the Chevy will do, but better and will do many things that the Chevy can't...well, I had to keep this thread on topic somehow...

sounds like the minimal ahem..."site seeing" you did....both on site and at teh music shop made the trip for you!

I am sure your next stop will see women covered from had to toe....so enjoy tyhe fleeting glimpses now...

I sometimes am able to work in a day or so for seeing the sites when i travel overseas but not frequently enough...need to do more of that...

I was in Pisa Italy last year and NEVER even saw the leaning tower!

Works for me.
I get bored easily.
Short attn span? maybe? :eyebrow:
Roll basses more than most.
Enjoy EVERY minute of it.
Even though I miss many of the amazing basses I have had.
I totally love the 10 I am sitting on still :D :hyper::bassist:

GAS nearly forced a sale the other day when that drop dead sexy copper 44-94 surfaced for sale on TB.
Traded and closed...pheeeew. :help:

1)I was super quiet last thread and I was still 15 in posts? Wow.

2) Heh. Once I own it, it's kind of hard to let it go, so I just keep acquiring. I just pulled the trigger on #9. It's kinda like shoes...I have at least a dozen pairs in black, but there's something awesome about every pair that requires that I keep them all. ;)

3) Gorgeous view!

4) Love it!! And the others, too.

1) yup...we need more Tat!

2) I agree,....number 9 huh? wow ....you DO have alot of basses...I have 10 - think that is my limit...unless I figure out how to justify "more"....doubt it.

3 and 4) I agree!

yeah maybe a few hundred high? But it was as new, and less than a year old...so that counts for the difference kinda sorta :)
If it had a matching HS I would have HAD to jump on it right away.
I figured your reason to not want it was it was missing that 5th string ya like so much :D

Behold Lakhenge! Or Lakland in Mountain.

Is it totally sad that when I saw these, I could not resist quoting this....

King Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. THAT is why I am your king.

Dennis the shrubber: Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' [DEL]swords[/DEL] Laklands is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

Oh, but you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a [DEL]sword[/DEL] Lakland at you.

Oh but if I went 'round sayin' I was Emperor, just because some moistened bint lobbed a [DEL]scimitar[/DEL] Lakland at me, they'd put me away.

I'll try to do better this thread. :D Yeah - #9. Although the details stay top secret until she's in my hands. The wait is going to kill me though. It's like being pregnant but with a shorter gestation and no new stretch marks.

Me thinks it be quite appropriate.

Okay folks, Texan was kind enough to send along the full size photo to create a 1600x1200 wallpaper of Lakhenge. If you'd like to spruce up your desktop, mobile device, etc. with something historical and Lakland, head on over Link Removed.
