I just saw my fat face in the reflection. LOL Then I noticed the trash can in the other pic (trying to find a white background).

so, sad news mostly for me, I'm leaving LOG, sold my second lakland today, it may well be my biggest mistake, but money was needed, so I'm left with just EBMM Sterling, but I promised myself that I will be back here in a year or two, but I'll come here often and visit your beauties
yopu never "really" leave.....you just take a Lakie break....until you realize that you cannot live without them and then...????

BTW - as an aside, played some "Average White Band" on my LOG bass with Marcus Millers last night...OH MY!!! What a growl...I am not a "good funk bassist" but am trying....
...also played my Carlo fretless...man....I am SO BLESSED to have such great sounding basses....wish my technique was better (
)

I have a couple of crappy iPhone memos. And they are CRAPPY. The sound quality and the playing quality (fretless rust) is not representative. I'm just first trying it right out of the box and recording it on a cell phone.
I will also offer the disclaimer that, although I played fretless bass only for nearly 20 years, it has been a while. Please forgive the intonation - I'm used to 41 1/2 scale on upright and 35" fretted. That will change, of course. Heck, my timing is even off because I'm thinking more about intonation. With those provisos in mind, and casting my embarrassment aside, you may proceed with caution.
I can't tell you amp settings positively, but I think they are in this neighborhood:
Streamliner 900
Pre-Gain: 9:00
Pre-Gain Vol: 1:00
Bass: 1:00
Mid Cut: 220
Mid Vol: 2:00
Treble: 2:00
Post Vol: 8:00 (barely on. cannot record robustly or get full effect on the iPhone w/o external mic)

Front p/u: 35%
Rear p/u: 100%

I will make some better recordings with a little more thought, care, and revitalized chops soon.
LOVE the sound!!! It has a great upper end "ring" that I do not often hear on fretless basses.
The intonation and other stuff will come back....overall, I think you have a good portion of it back already.....

I've been thinking about buying a 44-94, either from a Dealer's stock, or ordering from Lakland.
I'm intrigued by the 55-94 (/) hanging on the wall with Chi-Sonics.
Would you tell me a little about that bass; as to how it performs/sounds with that option rather than the standard Bartolinis?

I've never been crazy about matching headstocks on maple fretboards. To me, that Amber top is gorgeous with the maple. The only thing keeping that bass from being perfect is the missing low B string.

Agreed about the maple and matching, but there's plenty here who love the look as well. To each their own...
