Lovely, lovely, lovely. I recently took the plunge into 5-strings and fretless, but it's another brand. Loving the FL5 though - at least - once I have the skills to do her justice.

I agree. My personal image of aesthetic perfection is a transparent warm color finish with a rosewood fretboard, block inlays, and matching headstock. For some (lighter) finish colors, I like matching headstock with maple. Now I get to dwell on that with the virtual pic for my 4-94.

well....that actually started life as the CHISonic "test stand" and looked like this:

I was not super thrilled with the color and it had a few dings in it so I had Pat Wilkins put the top on and refin it.

This thing really sings! It has a huge bottom end as well as a very wide tonal spectrum.

I can dial in alot of different sounds and the switch allows me to go single or humbucker mode. I prefer humbucker.

the main"issue" is that Lakland is no longer making CHIsonic humbuckers :( due to production issues. I think there are less than 10 44/55-07s out there.

BTW - the Lakies now have the Hanson/LH3 set up in it which is brighter and more flexible than the Barts...I think you would be pleased with the set up...have you played on recenlty?

I just got a recording from my praise band with the CHIsonic bass and will post a link later (need to upload it etc)....and you can hear for yourself. (edit: see a couple of posts below)...

Thanks for the reply- great looking bass, of course if it went to Pat Wilkins shop, it's going to come out beautiful.

I was most curious about how the toggle worked with the Chi-Sonics; appreciate your updating my knowledge base that they are n/a.

So you have a very unique Lakland model; very kewl!

Man, it has been FOREVER since I've posted. I'm headed out of town; but... I just got the JO back from Pat, who doweled the pickguard screwholes and refinished the bass in burgundy mist. It rules, so hard. I've got pickguards from it. When I get back into town, I'm going to cut the screws and glue them into the pickguard so they LOOK screwed in - but I'll just use tape... or something that won't mess up the finish.

Also, I saw my old Glaub on eBay last week and... its home now. Granted, I need to drop a different pickup in it and it had a tort pickguard on it. Not my thing. If anyone remembers, I was super bummed to see it go. Now, I've got the 3 Laklands I always dreamed of!

Not pictured is a CAR Darkstar Glaub, which I'm still on the fence about keeping. I've got an extra DS pickup, and have contemplated having them build me a new Glaub with it; but.... I've got one. I could just refinish it, and continue to hoard the extra pickup... or have TWO DS Glaubs. Decisions, decisions....

Edit: sorry about the crappy iPhone picture. I'm determined to buy a real camera someday.
