Awesome..so could i get the tone in the sample track i posted? I have always been a fan of laklands yet have never owned one.

I want some growl and do not want a stingrayish tone. Never have been a huge fan of the music man for recording. Just personal preference. The youtube demos of the 5502 showcased a lot of nice punch and growl so i think ill be good.

I love the maple lakland necks....oh man..so sweet. Wide string spacing..35 scale..defined b...all the stuff i want.

That tone can definitely be had with a 55-02, fat and punchy with a little growl, beautiful. I had a cirrus before my 44-02 and I miss it from time to time, then a pick up the Lakie and forget all about the Peavey!

Nope, hanging with the rest of the black forest :)

"BLACK FOREST"....love it! so then...if it RIGHT there, how did you forget about it? could not see the grey color through the rest of the black forest? maybe it blended in too well?

YUP...with some tweaking on the pre-map I bet you could. if you are in doubt on coping a particular tone, I am sure the guys at the shop could help you...

I agree on all of your points....that is WHY I only Play Laky 5ers....the neck is so comfy!

So I know that you guys are probably growing wearing of my bipolar opinions on the shoreline gold JO I picked up recently. But let me tell you, it came to me with sadowsky electronics and I just got the brand new Neo Chis installed with a J-retro and I am totally blown away. I guess it goes to show that when you buy a bass, you should get the electronics that were designed to go in the instrument... I really dont want to drink the Kool-Aide, but I am finding myself more and more in to the Lakland

so....what does this mean??? is it "off the market again"...:eyebrow:

are you still considering ordering a different one from Lakland?

as for the Kool -aide...the grape is delicious!

Yup! She's my baby. Gonna be doing a singer songwriter recording sesh w her soon.

nice!!! something for the LOG CD III?

Guys who own those really seem to love them.

Kind of a shame about how the whole Dudepit thing went down, eh?

yup...well....it did not "have" to go down that way....when people get into stuff they should not...oh heck...gunna stop right there...don't want to get into trouble...:hiding:

Two out of three. The LPB DJ4 (not pictured) is still here and still ballsy.

Whoa...you forget to check the thread for a couple of days and boom! Off to the races again. Some Chatty Cathys indeed! Subbed.

nice!!! yup...we start off strong!

same here...'cept mine was an earlier T-40 and my first "new bass"....kind of miss it now and again....but that is getting less and less...

BTW - played my US BG 5 PJ and my Skyline JO5 fretless in church today...kind of my "retro look pair" (the BG is 3Tb and the JO5 is natural - BOTH with tort guards).

man...how I love playing these basses!

and they fit so well in da mix!

Well, I still want to order a custom one, but lets just say that I definitely won't be too sad to hold on to this one. With the Chis and J-retro it is BAD and completely different tonally than any of my other J basses. I am still thinking about getting it refinned, but I put a cheap black guard on it when i had the pickups out to see what it looked like and it really improved the look... much cheaper fix.

Its not that I have GAS so much... its that I have Bass ADD.

I agree....hang onto it for a bit more and see how it is after a month (OR MORE!)

I would love to see the bass with the drop in CHIs.....I assume the covers are solid?

A cccouple quick pics. I didn't put all the PG screws back in yet. Yes, the Chis are in a solid cover.

Funny, my Cirrus was my first high-end "new bass". The only thing I really miss about it is the look, lightly figured redwood top, she was pretty.

Now if only I could have a redwood topped 4-76, that'd be alright with me!

Sweet.

Hunting down a 5502 natural/maple.

I see myself joining this club soon.
