Hey guys, just had a quick question for you:
I'm gearing up to order a US 44-51 in the next 3 months, and I'm a bit torn between getting the neo punch model or the Vintage single..
I'm very familiar with split pups and not so much with the P singles. I think I would dig the extra clarity of the single, but wonder, do they still retain that unmistakable "thump" that the splits put out?
P.S: an average pic of my amazing fretless 44-01:

A question for all you 5 string players here. Lakland 5'ers are 35" scale basses. Hence, do you guys use medium gauge strings (45-105, etc.) or go down a gauge due to the longer scale.
Also, could you please tell me what strings you use?
Thanks!

if you're after a vintage P sound, get the single.
the neopunch is not a vintage sound, but a very good pickup nonetheless, its a modern P sound.
I just ordered a set of Circle K strings... 0.150 - 0.112 - 0.082 - 0.061 - 0.045
Wow! A 150??

Have you already widened your B string nut slot? The other strings will be fine.
Ha, I figured I would try it. We play half step down tuning, with some drop songs, so the extra gage should help.
Oddly enough, circle k makes a 0.287 B string set
$1650, but yeah, that's a steal at that price.Good deal to be had on Ebay...99 Joe ending in 2hours 1600 no bids... Go get it!

I would like to know what you think of it.
You guys keep saying Lakland necks are so great...you're all a bunch of liars!
They're freeeeking awesome!! This DJ5 might just turn me into a Lakland-only nut like the rest of you whacko's!
