I get the most amazing usable feedback from them standing somewhat close to the stack.

Haven't posted in the LOG for awhile but there have been a couple of DJ threads surface today and then here was LOG #68 at the top of the stack so here I am.
Only had one gig this past weekend and my DJ5 got the call. I can't explain just how much I love this bass; definitely my favorite of any jazz I've ever had or played. I did add an Audre pre but it stays set flat just about all the time. Anywho, just thought I'd drop in and comment. I'll just leave this here...
Of course they are.
I went with a stacked knob setup so I could blend in the bridge pup the way I like, but the knobs haven't arrived yet, so I'm not able to properly run through the tonal options as of yet. That being said, they're less bright than the previous setup, which is what I like. Time will tell though....

That's one good-looking piece of sweet right there.
Stunning. My favorite J5 ever. I have missed the Lakland 5er necks for a while and have gravitated back to them. I have one of the newer grey DJ5s (a light one under 9 lbs) and a new, light 5594. I still wish they were 34" scale, but they are among the most comfy 35" 5ers I have played, and sound superb. I also called and asked if they would make a USA DJ5 and was told that "This has been discussed in the past but there are currently no plans to offer a USA DJ5 in 2014". My guess is that the USA shop is now small, profitable and selling all of its' production and the offshore stuff is also making money, so best not to tinker with a winning formula in this economy.....but that's just my pure conjecture..... I would order a USA DJ5 in a picosecond if they offered it, even if it didn't have the blocks or matched headstock.

, and I stipulated that I wasn't picky about anything other than the body shape, neck profile (which HAD to be DJ5) , and a weight under 9 lbs . It was a flat, unqualified "no".

No I hadn't thought of that. If he does a complete build, is it branded as a Lakland?
Appreciate all the compliments on the DJ5; the white pearl and maple FB is definitely my favorite.

While, IMO, my DJ5 is every bit as much of a great bass as some much pricier USA basses, I had it in the back of my mind that I might one day order a USA DJ5 under the assumption that they'd probably be willing to make whatever I was willing to pay for. I actually prefer the 35" scale and that, with the smaller body and legendary Lakland neck, is what drew me to the DJ5 over some others. Oh well, guess that keeps me from spending more than I really needed to in the first place.

He can use the headstock shape, but he puts his circle c logo on it rather than the Lakland logo
